Litter pick

Whilst their siblings ran at Junior Flyers last night some of the children helped do a litter pick around the football field in Framlingham, two of the team are part of our School Eco Council.

Great effort from you all, with lots of litter cleared looking at the number of bags collected!

Lambs Visit School!

This morning, Miss Whipps brought in two Suffolk ewe lambs, Bonnie and Bessie, to visit the children. Each class had the opportunity to meet them and ask lots of fantastic questions.

During the visit, we talked about a variety of interesting topics, including why sheep wear ear tags, what they eat, and what makes the Suffolk breed special. The children learned that sheep are ruminants, which means they have a complex stomach made up of four compartments, allowing them to digest tough plant materials like grass more efficiently.

We also discussed how to behave safely around animals and the importance of caring for them with kindness and respect.

Post-SATs Celebrations

On Thursday, our Year 6 children completed their final SATs test, marking the end of a challenging and hardworking week. To celebrate their incredible effort, we took advantage of the dry weather with some well-earned time on the school field. The children enjoyed a relaxing break with snacks, games, and plenty of laughter – a perfect way to unwind after their hard work.

We are all immensely proud of the resilience, determination, and positive attitude they have shown throughout the week. They truly rose to the occasion and demonstrated just how capable and committed they are.

With SATs now behind them, Year 6 are excited to begin rehearsals for their end-of-year production, Hoodwinked! We can’t wait to see their talents shine in a different way as they take to the stage.

Tennis Tournament

On Friday, Framlingham Sir Robert Hitcham’s took part in a Tennis competition at Framlingham College school.

We took 60 children from Years 1,2,3,4 and 5.

The children all enjoyed their day and many of the children won lots of games with some of them not losing one game.  Well done to all who took part.

Pumpkin is having a holiday

Palm trees, sunshine, home away from home...

Lucky Pumpkin is having a few days away from his usual place of residence - ie the Year 6 classrooms - as he can be quite a distraction some mornings!

The Year 6 children are working hard and busy concentrating on their SATs for the next few mornings, so Pumpkin has taken up residence in the office :)

The children were so excited to pick up their Wonderlicious chocolate bars today and unwrap them to see if they had won a 'Golden Ticket'!

A huge thank you to the Friends for organising this fun event for the children, we look forward to the prize winners week in the last week of the half term.  If you're a winner make sure to bring your golden ticket to the office on Monday.

Thank you to the families for supporting this and an extra-big thank you to Ernest Doe and Ardent Hire for their generous sponsorship of the event.

VE day CRMBr

To celebrate VE day class CRMBr found out about the WRENS in the navy and how they used Morse code and Semaphore to send messages in code.  We then used our flags that we had made for the 'street party' to learn the alphabet.  We practised by making up short words or using our initials.

We also talked about childhood in the wartime and wondered what it would have been like especially not having any technology.  We learnt how to use sticks to play pickup sticks; used stones to play ‘Jacks’ and learnt how to play hopscotch properly.  One child found 'Jacks' really testing and reminded us that we needed to persevere, our value for this half term.  Another child said that 'pick up sticks' game was a real test of skill.  In the end we had a vote for our favourite.  17 children preferred 'pick up sticks', 5 preferred the hopscotch and only 3 liked 'Jacks' but many found it tricky.

Year 6 Inspired by Live Piano Recital in Framlingham

Yesterday afternoon, our Year 6 children had the amazing opportunity to attend a live piano recital by Aisa Ijiri in Framlingham. The performance featured stunning works by Bach, Chopin, Liszt, and Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet — and the children and adults were truly captivated.

It was a fantastic chance for them to experience live classical music, many for the very first time, and they returned full of inspiration.

We are incredibly grateful to Penny Cook, who works with Framlingham Concerts Community Interest Company, for making this unforgettable experience possible.

Friday’s Visitor Assembly

For today’s assembly our visitor, Saul, began by showing us the image of a small acorn, a simple seed that—given the right conditions—can grow into a mighty oak tree and, ultimately, become part of a vast forest. He used this powerful metaphor to illustrate a deeper truth: each of us carries within us the potential for greatness.

He reminded us that, just like the acorn, we may seem small or ordinary at first. But if we nurture our strengths, remain determined, and continue to grow through effort and perseverance, we can achieve remarkable things. Saul encouraged us to protect and develop the "seed of greatness" that lies within each of us, and to believe in what we can become.
It was a thought-provoking and uplifting message, reminding us of the importance of self-belief, hard work, and resilience. A big thank you to Saul for taking the time to speak with us and for sharing such an encouraging perspective.
