In addition, we have spaces in a number of other year groups, and we are very happy to give tours to families considering a move for their child, so you can see what our school can offer your child,

The Friends have been busy collecting, packing, wrapping & labelling this morning - thank you to the team for all their hard work!

Raffle tickets are on sale through the shop section of ParentMail, please do pick them up before the deadline on Tues 16 December.

Draw takes place on Weds 17 December - winners will be notified by the Friends, to collect your hampers before the end of term.

Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby Competition

Year 5 and 6 boys and girls played in a tag rugby competition at Thomas Mills High School. Both teams showed great teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. The children played brilliantly in their matches with one team playing in the final and the other team winning many of their games too. Well done to all those SRH children who took part!

SRH PUPILS SHINE AT SNAPE

We are delighted to share that several of our talented current and former SRH pupils will be performing with the Co-op Juniors in ‘The Magic of Christmas at Snape . They will be taking to the stage for an exciting run of ten performances between 5–14 December. It is wonderful to see our pupils continuing to pursue their passion for the performing arts. 

In addition, some SRH pupils who attend Sing Praise, as well as former pupils now part of Reverb, will be singing in the 12:30 performance of The Snowman at Snape.  We wish them all the very best with their performances.

Ignatius Sancho Inspires Class JA!

What an exciting day in Class JA! We’ve been reading The Lizzie and Belle Mystery by J.T. Williams and discovered the amazing story of 18^th Century trailblazer, Ignatius Sancho - a man who went from being enslaved to becoming a writer and a voice for freedom. The children were so inspired that we created our very own mini-books all about his life! From colourful covers to fascinating facts, our classroom was buzzing with creativity and pride in sharing his incredible journey.

   

Cobbling Together a Healthy Meal with Class JA

Class JA have been busy cooking in small groups, learning about healthy eating and why different foods help our bodies. The children loved making tasty Beef Cobbler with Savoury Scones, chopping, measuring and mixing while discovering that balanced meals can be fun and delicious!

Year 4 Big Sing

Year 4 enjoyed a wonderful morning of music and song at Snape Maltings as they took part in the Big Sing event. 

The event was a culmination of several weeks of hard work by the children as they learnt a range of songs, both long and short, which told stories from history, explored world events and celebrated our voices coming together.

Favourite songs included 'Tale of the Titanic', 'The Witches, the Whale and the Blacksmith's Tale' and 'Old Abram Brown' which were sung in part as a round with the children taking on different parts and following our expert conductors Aga and Emily. 

Children in need sale

School council and Eco council did an amazing job with the toy and book sale in aid of Children in Need.  We were grateful for the toys, books, jigsaws, boxed games, dressing up toys and soft toys which we received. 

Thank you to everyone for your donations and for those of you bought toys and made donations to a very well worth cause. We raised £259.72.  

BOW, PLUCK AND PLAY - YEAR 5 VIOLIN VOICES

Bow, Pluck, and Play: Year 5 Violin Voices

 

🎻 In Year 5 violin, we practised smooth down-bow (  𝆪  ) and gentle up-bows ( 𝆫   ) , perfected our pizzicato plucking, and began reading notes like crotchet notes (♩) and minim notes (𝅗𝅥). Step by step, we’re turning symbols into music and playing with confidence!

 

Enrichment Afternoons - Robin Wood

The weather didn’t stop us, we just brought the Robin Wood (Forest School's) outdoor activities indoors. 

Using natural materials the Key Stage 2 children on this half term's rota for Robin Wood made a collage of Pudsey for Children in Need.

Classes RJ, KN and KHLH all enjoyed having a go at drawing and colouring Pudsey this morning. We hope you enjoy finding your child's picture here. We've loved learning about Children In Need and hope that you all enjoy watching it tonight.

 

KS1 Seasonal Activities

 

KS1 have been keen scientists learning about the seasons and displaying their knowledge through art. As artists, they have used printing, painting, drawing and collage skills to create images to depict spring, summer, autumn and winter. Some of the Year 2 children used seasonal vegetables to make pumpkin soup which all of the children enjoyed tasting.

This week, the children in VW have been busy!

Linked to our class text Lizzie and Belle, they explored descriptive language to capture the tense moment a chandelier fell and injured Lizzie’s father, Ignatius, focusing on the calm before and the drama after the fall.

In maths, they’ve been adding and subtracting fractions and progressing to mixed numbers. For History, they researched influential figures including Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and the Windrush generation, organising their findings in chronological order. We used the library for this. 

In RE, the class learned about the Qur’an and how Muslims recite it in Arabic. They looked at the opening section of the Qur'an,  Al-Fatiha, and tried memorising short sections for 10 seconds at a time- quite an interesting challenge! They reflected on what it might feel like to share Allah’s message with the world.
