Pottery Throwdown!

Year 5 have had an exciting morning today as artists learning how to use a potter’s wheel and make clay tiles.

Katie and Mary-Anne kindly offered their expertise and equipment to teach Class JA and ES some fantastic new skills.

Using a potter’s wheel was an experience that everyone was excited about, and each child got the chance to throw their own pot and add a spiral glaze.

Stencils were used to create patterns on the tiles with coloured glazes. The tiles now need to be fired; we can’t wait to see the results.

Once the tiles are completed, we hope to create a year group masterpiece for everyone to see.

Thank you very much to Katie (from Katie's Pottery Studio, Leiston) who supplied all the materials and equipment, and will now spend many hours glazing and firing all the wonderful creations for the children. Thank you to both ladies for their time and expertise today, we are so grateful!

It was an experience thoroughly enjoyed by the whole year group.

Class DR - Weaving and Wet Feet

Look at our fabulous artwork, created by weaving the materials we found around Robin Wood.

It was very warm, so we kept ourselves cool by dipping our feet into the cold water. Just what we needed!
