Friday Assembly by Class GH

Our Friday assemblies are a great way of celebrating the children's work. Parents are welcome to attend.
Class GH led their class assembly themselves. The children confidently passed around the microphone whilst talking about their work at the end of Asia week.
We were also treated to a number of musical items on piano, guitar, clarinet and ocarina (a simple wind instrument with 6 finger holes) - see picture.
The assembly finished with a prayer for those people suffering in the Asian natural disasters in Burma and China.

Year 2 Olympics

As part of Asia week Year 1 and 2 children have taken part in a mini Olympics.

On our school field the children had a go at Sprinting, Hurdles and Discus.
Afterwards the children looked at the Beijing Olympics website - click on the logo below.
We particularly looked at the Olympic mascots (5 different pandas) and the symbols used for the various sports.
The children then had a go at making their own Olympic rings and sport symbols using a drawing program called 'Revelation Natural Art'.

Schools Rugby Tournament

Robert Hitchams sent 2 teams to the annual Primary Schools touch rugby tournament at Debenham. Each team had to play 5 matches.
Our A team played some great rugby and were unfortunate not to make the final. They were 10 seconds away from beating St Botolphs when they managed to steal the ball from one of our players and score an equaliser that put them into the final at our expense.
Our B team managed 2 good wins and only lost narrowly to St Botolphs.

They include Willow pattern paintings and embroidery, food, flags, dragons, masks and characters.

You can see the others in a film below - the music is the Chinese National Anthem.
