Sow, Grow and Farmer

As part of our new topic of 'Sow, Grow and Farm' years 3 and 4 were treated to a special talk from Mr Larter to share his expertise and insight into farming in the UK.

The children were able to learn all about different crops farmed here in the UK and Suffolk, information about different machinery and techniques needed to harvest the crops as well as challenges faced by the farming industry.

We thank Mr Larter for giving up his time to come and speak to us and help us develop our own knowledge of farming.

Year 3 Clarinet Concert

As musicians, year 3 have been learning to play the clarinet as part of Music For Schools services. This morning they played a special concert to classes JF and LH to help inspire them and develop their passion for musical instruments.

The children performed a number of warm up activities, vocal songs as well as clarinet recitals and did an amazing job of sounding so in tune and in time.

Back to Nursery

Last week was all about welcoming our old friends back to Nursery as well as settling in our new starters. We loved being outside, enjoying the sunshine and warmer temperatures.

We checked on our potatoes and saw that they had been growing and so we covered up the leaves and ensured they were well watered.

There was lots of collaborative fun together with the mud kitchen, sandpit, obstacle course and car mat too.

Art Club

Over the last half term, the Year 5 artists in art club have been busy working within the theme of abstract art. First, the children decided on a colour palette and then experimented with different abstract designs. Once designs were completed that they were happy with they were transferred on to a canvas and painted in their chosen colours. All of the children’s finished pieces looked fantastic and Miss Turner and Mrs Sears were very proud of the children’s results. We are looking forward to welcoming Year 4's next week to art club.

A hive of activity for year 2!

Year 2 were like bees around a pot this afternoon as they enjoyed the sunshine exploring the new equipment in the playground boxes.

Some children taught their friends some new games such as Connect 4, dominoes, skittles, chess and Jenga.  Meanwhile, others were creating stories with the puppets and soft toys; creating scenes with the tractors; building creations with the straws, Kapla and Duplo bricks.  There was also a chance to play hockey and basketball alongside using the skipping ropes.

All the children had an exciting time playing with a range of equipment and learning how to respect each other too.  They also learnt how to put the toys and equipment away sensibly, neatly and were reminded about looking after this for others to enjoy and share too.

Class VW letter responses from MP Dan Poulter

In the Autumn, year 6 wrote letters to Dan Poulter about issues which were close to their hearts, such as climate, the cost of living, PE provision in schools, SATs testing, hydrogen cars, etc.

On Tuesday, the children received personalised responses from the MP which they read in class and have taken home to share with their families.
