A snapshot from VW

VW have been busy this week!

On Monday, the class was saddened to hear about the earthquake that struck Myanmar and felt compelled to write letters to the people of Framlingham, urging them to donate to the Red Cross.

In Maths, the children have been familiarizing themselves with all four quadrants of the coordinate grid by translating and reflecting shapes. In Science, the class has been learning about Carl Linnaeus and his role in classifying living organisms.

We discovered that viruses need a host to survive and even created our own plasticine models of viruses!

Sunny days!

What a lovely morning on the field .... rolling around in the grass, the "happy crocodile" game, daisy chains,  hairdressers, tag, mums and dads, just sitting around chatting....

Easter Assembly

On this gloriously sunny morning, Year 5 lead a wonderful Easter assembly at St Michael’s Church.  The story of Easter along with various other facts and information relating to Easter were shared.  The singing was uplifting and Rev Chris Davey acknowledged this too as he said the Easter blessing at the end.

Every single child in the school made a daffodil which the church will use to decorate the porch ready for the Easter service.  The whole school walked up through the Market Hill to the Church each carrying their daffodils.

Hockey Tournament

On Friday, Sir Robert Hitcham’s took part in a Hockey competition at Harleston magpies hockey club.

We entered 2 teams into the competition with 1 team coming 5th on the compete side of the competition and the other team coming 5th out of 25 teams in the develop side of the competition.

All the children worked very hard every Monday and Friday at the afterschool to get ready for the competition and it really did show on the day. The children showed fantastic team work and attitude.

Friends Wonderlicious Event - starting straight after the Easter Break

South Africa assembly

Cameron Cann visited us today to tell us about his time volunteering as a PE coach in the Capricorn Primary School in South Africa.  He shared with the children what life was like on a daily basis showing them a video of a typical street with no grass; shops and business made out of disused freight containers and lots of rubbish and squalor.  Their home lives were very tough due to the poverty and hardship so they found school a place of solace and enjoyment.  They had no phones, iPads, X-boxes and not much money for clothes yet Cameron expressed how the children were so happy with their friends and games they played.  He shared videos of a sports carnival and the children singing and dancing and enjoying music - of which they did a lot!  Cameron spoke about the inspirational people that he had met and how they had overcome adversity and hardship and were persevering with their goals.  He also interestingly told us about the food he had enjoyed particularly ostrich and lots of mango.   In our prayers,  we thought about how lucky we are here in Framlingham and prayed for the children at the Capricorn Primary School.
