"Learning, Caring and Inspiring" assembly
Rev Chris Davey joined Mrs Cann in our assembly to share the "School Vision " and to talk about spirituality and how this affects us all. The children gave some great examples including how they have been inspired and have a sense of awe and wonder of events in their lives including previous inspirational speakers we have had to visit us.
The Key Stage 2 children, who are doing Robin Wood as their enrichment at the moment, presented a beautiful, huge collage that they all helped make to celebrate Sir David Attenborourgh 's 100th birthday. This really was an inspirational piece of work and will adorn the walls in the hall shortly. Thank you to Mrs Skeggs and Miss Eliot who have created this with the children.

Our Schools, Our World celebrate Sir David Attenborough
As part of the Friday Enrichment, "Our Schools, Our World" group wrote a collaborative acrostic about Sir David Attenborough. We talked about his incredible life; the global impact his TV and films had in making us all aware - adults and children - about the need to help look after the planet. The discussion that we had amongst the group about the impact of climate change was a revelation sharing thoughts and concerns together.
David digs deeper into
learning about nature
Always passionate about
Antarctica
Very little bugs are still
important to the world
Inspires us not put rubbish
in the sea but to dispose of it correctly
David shows and inspires us to help
save the planet
All habitats – giant deserts,
rainforests, oceans and hills are studied
TV presenter showing us what
a wonderful place the world is in nature
The rainforests shouldn’t be chopped
down
Endangered animals around the
world are being protected
Naturalist who has encouraged
people to look after the world
‘Blue Planet’ made us aware of
the plastic impact around the globe
Our world matters and we need
to understand the world is important
Realising the truth of the
impact of climate change on the world
Our ice-caps are melting, we
need to take action
Undiscovered lands yet to be
found
Global warming is affecting
the habitats, the animals and plants
Humans are destroying our
planet but he is trying to solve the problem

Music to our ears!
What a treat we had this morning! We celebrated all the amazing musical opportunities that the children get at SRH. County Music teach year 5 violins and year 3 clarinets and it was such a treat to see and hear how much they have learnt over this academic year. Class RJ showed off their skills on the clarinet with “Grumpy Old Man” and Year 5 played “Open String Boogie”
Class MB sang “Time to say hello” and year 2 children in Class
JT demonstrated some amazing rhythm work and keeping the beat to “Jerusalema”. Year 4, who sang their song at Snape Maltings,
sang “Celebrate St Patrick’s Day” so movingly.
The year 4 recorder club played ‘Kum-ba-ya’ and ‘Happy
Birthday’ in beautiful harmony.
Class MS and Class VW have been working on composition this term
and each class played their own compositions
based on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Winter using their own conductor to lead the class playing a range of untuned
percussion instruments alongside the piano, violin and the cello.
We enjoyed listening to a range of soloists performing on
the recorder, clarinet, drums, cellist, pianist and guitarist. We also heard a few duets.
We finished with a treat from Mr Burch who played a medley
of songs which we all enjoyed including
rudiments and a paradiddle which we all
took part in.
A huge thank you to County Music for providing our wonderful clarinet and violin teachers, MSF, Mr Slatter, Mrs Lavery, Mr Bold, Mrs Johnson and of course Mrs Mawson who coordinates, liaises and organises all these wonderful music opportunities.

Year 4 Big Sing
Year 4 enjoyed a wonderful morning of music and song at Snape Maltings as they took part in the Big Sing event.
The event was a culmination of several weeks of hard work by the children as they learnt a range of songs, both long and short, which told stories from history, explored world events and celebrated our voices coming together.
Favourite songs included 'Tale of the Titanic', 'The Witches, the Whale and the Blacksmith's Tale' and 'Old Abram Brown' which were sung in part as a round with the children taking on different parts and following our expert conductors Aga and Emily.

Sporting Day
On Wednesday 16th July Sir Robert Hitchams took part in a whole school sporting day. The day started off with an assembly on high standards in sport and for the rest of the day the school was on a rotation of sports which was Handball, Tennis, Dance and Playground games. The children came dressed as their sporting heroes and really did make the school proud with their positive attitude and stamina throughout the day.
