Art Club

After attending a shadow puppet workshop with some children in KS2, Miss Turner was inspired to use and teach the skills she learned in art club this half term with the Year 3s.

Year 3 have really enjoyed making shadow puppets. After constructing different characters using black card , split pins and sticks they imagined interesting stories for them. Finally, the children presented a show and acted out their stories for each other as well as Mrs Cann.

Celebrating Easter with Year 5.

Year 5 have been busy creating these beautiful Easter Bunny cards, and we’d love to wish all our families a very happy and peaceful Easter!

In Class AL this week, the children have been busy making beautiful spring‑themed cards for all their wonderful mummies at home. We hope they bring a smile to your day and wish you a lovely, relaxing Sunday filled with warmth and joy.

Class AL Celebrate Krishna Through Art

This week in Class AL, we learned about the Hindu festival of Janmashtami, which celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna, and the children loved discovering that many Hindu children dress up as Krishna in colourful clothes and peacock feathers. We explored why Krishna is such an important figure in Hinduism and how the festival is a joyful way for families to show devotion. In R.E., we brought our learning to life, the class made their own Krishna figures, decorating them with bright colours and thoughtful details as they explored how people express their beliefs through celebration and art.

        

 

Comparing Biomes: Desert vs Rainforest

This week in Year 5, the children explored biomes by researching from books, gathering key facts about climate, animals, and plant life. Each child chose either the desert or the rainforest, which meant the class could compare two very different environments. They worked brilliantly to collate their information and showed great curiosity as they learned how living things adapt to survive in each biome.

   

The First Drawing - Class RJ

Over the last couple of weeks, Lower Key Stage 2 have been enjoying reading, re-enacting and producing writing based around The First Drawing by Mordicai Gerstein. This week, Class RJ produced freeze frames to help them to sequence the story. We loved their creative ideas and are really proud of the work they have produced, inspired by the story. We hope you'll enjoy seeing their written work next week when you come for parents' evening.

Exploring the Hindu religion in Class KHLH

Class KHLH have been finding out about Hinduism.  We examined the story of Rama and Sita along with Lakshman and Hanuman discussing their dharmas (duties) and the important roles in which they all had.  We discovered the traditions about Diwali along with Hindu wedding ceremonies using many artefacts to highlight the importance of these traditions.  We carefully used the murtis for observational drawings and wrote some "coat hanger" poems about different aspects of the Hindu religion.

                           

KS1 Seasonal Activities

 

KS1 have been keen scientists learning about the seasons and displaying their knowledge through art. As artists, they have used printing, painting, drawing and collage skills to create images to depict spring, summer, autumn and winter. Some of the Year 2 children used seasonal vegetables to make pumpkin soup which all of the children enjoyed tasting.

As artists and historians, Class KHLH studied the details on a range of poppies and then each drew and made a quarter of a poppy which were put together to create collaborative poppies.  We discussed the importance of the poppy and remembrance day.

Arts Festival 2025

What a truly splendid afternoon we had last Friday showcasing our talented children to a delighted audience on the back playground.

From singing and dancing, to poetry and Shakespeare, our classes displayed some wonderful work.  With music played by our cellist, guitarists and recorder players, as well as some fabulous Maypole dancing, it really was a special afternoon, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the parents.
