Class LH write to the Queen

Class LH have continued to find out about the Queen, her family, her role and her interests as part of the “Bright Lights, Big City”.

We have also been learning how to draw faces accurately and have then gone on to draw the Queen’s portrait using one of her real portraits as inspiration.  We carefully drew the eyes and the nose in using a grid and then added in the detail of the mouth and ears.  After that we then used watercolours to paint the details using a wash for parts of her face and then adding in a touch of colour for her features,  her earrings and tiara.

Our portraits ready to go to the Queen ...

As a class we then used the information we have learnt about the Queen to plan a letter from our class to the Queen.  We were all very excited to be writing to the Queen and wanted to write more.  We hope she enjoys our cheeky question about the corgis on the throne!!  Many of us let our dogs on our sofas and we wondered whether the Queen would?

Framlingham has been chosen to have a beacon to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee next year and so we also thought about special places where we would take the Queen if she were to visit Framlingham.

Once we were happy with our letter, Saskia, Harriet, Florence and Emily offered to write it up and so wrote a paragraph each.  They have done a really good job so thank you girls for offering to write it.

We wonder if we will get a reply – we hope so!
