SPARKLING MATHEMATICIANS, ADVENT, THE HAJJ AND MORE.....

Class JA have been very busy........ this week has rushed past and  the class has enjoyed covering lots of areas of the curriculum.

In maths, the children have used their tables knowledge to create Christmas cards which look really effective (and sparkly). The glitter they have used is made from recycled materials and is recyleable. Each morning, the children are taking it in turns to select a non edible (!) gingerbread tree decoration from our advent calendar and   then complete an advent jigsaw. We are really impressed with how sensibly everybody is waiting for their turn.

In R.E. the children have been learning about the Hajj and developing their understanding of Islam. Their recent focus has been the Five Pillars of Islam. We watched a fascinating short film about The Hajji and listened to people's account of going on this very important pilgrimage.

Further, we are also using a virtual  (online) advent calendar from the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich that Mrs Cann shared with us. The focus each day is moving from darkness to light and we have enjoyed looking at the image through the virtual windows. So far, the favourite has been an image of Abram  counting the starts in the night sky. It was great as the children were able to link this to their Stargazers topic.
