We have a very short first
half term, just 4 ½ weeks which includes the SATs testing, followed by a much
longer 2nd half term of 7 ½ weeks.

Diary Dates leaflet which gives details of dates for the rest
of this term and a Club leaflet with start dates of all summer clubs
– please
note some start this week but most clubs start next week.
REMEMBER THE SCHOOL DAY TIMING CHANGES:
·
The playground will still be supervised from

·
All children should be IN class by 8.50am for registration.
·
If it is raining the staff will manually open the
doors from 8.30am for wet play in class.

NETBALL CLUB – NOW OPEN TO YEAR 5s
During the summer term a
basic skills netball course for year 5 & 6 girls on the MUGA courts at
Thomas Mills High School will run on Mondays after school, in a similar fashion
to the previous hockey club run by Mr Brook.
We would require some parents
to ferry the children up to the high school for a 3.30pm start and students
would need to be collected at 4.30pm.
The course will be led by Mrs
Constanti with the support of some 6th form members of the Framlingham Netball
Club. The main aim of the course would
be to build up skills and confidence in the sport before the girls move up to
high school. The sessions would run on
the following dates: 12th & 19th May,
2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th June.
Application forms to be
returned to our school office by Monday 28 April please.
SUN PROTECTION
Now the summer term has
started I wanted to remind you about our Sun Protection policy. The sun’s rays
are particularly strong in the summer and they can damage children’s skin,
which can sadly lead to skin cancer in later life.
Your child’s health and
well-being are very important to us, which is why we:
* spend time learning about the importance of
sun protection;
* encourage pupils to wear hats when outside
and to use sunscreen;
* encourage pupils to drink plenty of water
to prevent dehydration.
More details can be found
in our Sun Protection policy.
Of course, your support is
very important if we are to make this work. You can help by:
* talking to your child about the importance
of sun protection at home;
* applying a minimum factor 15 sunscreen to
your child’s face, neck, arms and legs
(if
exposed) before they leave home, in order to safeguard them through the day;
* always sending your child to school in a
hat (preferably with a wide brim);
* ensuring your child brings in a water
bottle (with a sports cap).
…..COATS
However… as the British
weather is so unpredictable can we please ask that children bring a waterproof
coat with them as we still like them to go out at break and lunch times even if
the weather is a little wet.
BREAK TIME SNACKS
Please can we remind
parents that the children should only be bringing in fruit or vegetables for
their morning snack. Please DO NOT include packets of processed or coated fruit
eg fruit winders or yoghurt coated fruits please also do not include other
foods such as cheese & crackers.
Thank you for your co-operation in following our ‘healthy schools’
guidelines.
VIOLIN LESSONS & OTHER MUSIC LESSON INVOICES
Please note that there are Violin lessons on Friday this week as well as Monday next week.
There are still a
number of invoices outstanding for Violin, Guitar, Brass & Clarinet so please
ensure you have paid for the terms lessons this week, otherwise your child may
not get a lesson.

County Hockey Tournament
Yesterday our school hockey team took part in the County Finals at Coppleston High School in Ipswich.
There were 10 teams - each winners of a local tournament - divided into 2 groups of 5.
Framlingham got through to the semi final against Nayland after a series of comfortable wins.
Framlingham won 5-1 to get into the final vs Hadleigh.
Fram played even better in a dramatic final. Unfortunately the other team played a totally male team against us (leaving the 2 girls in their squad as unused subs). Infact Fram were the only team in the tournament to play a mixed team. Most of the teams had no girls at all in their squads.
In the final Fram went 1-0 and 2-1 up but Hadleigh equalised with a few seconds left. The match went into 'golden goal' extra time. Fram scored what appeared to be the winning goal - but it was disallowed. Despite having several more chances Fram could not score and Hadleigh scored the winner to leave Fram as County runners-up. This was still a good achievement - our boys and girls can be proud of the quality of hockey they played.
House Hockey Tournament
On Tuesday we held an inter-house hockey tournament involving nearly 50 girls and boys - 2 teams from each house played each other in a league format.
The Hitcham and Howard teams.
Action from the Mills v Hitcham game.
Mills won the A team tournament (mainly year 6 players) and Bulstrode won the B Team (mainly year 4 and 5 players).
