Civic Engagement - Class MBu

Class MBu were delighted to welcome Mr David Greenacre from Greener Fram, who came to talk to them about the importance of water and how we can all use it more wisely. Mr Greenacre explained where our water comes from and why it is important not to waste this precious resource. The children learned simple ways to save water, such as turning off the tap while brushing their teeth, taking shorter showers, and only using the amount of water they need. They also discussed how saving water helps to protect the environment and ensures there is enough for people, animals, and plants. The pupils answered some thoughtful questions, thinking about their own water usage during the day and finding out how much water we use compared to other countries.  We hope the children have become inspired to become responsible citizens by making small changes that can have a big impact.

Inspirational visit from Sophy Henn

We were delighted to welcome children’s author and illustrator Sophy Henn to the school for a truly inspirational assembly. Sophy shared how she creates her wonderful books and showed the children that drawing can start with just a few simple shapes and quick ideas. Through live drawing demonstrations, she encouraged everyone to be creative, use their imagination and have confidence in their own artistic abilities. The children were captivated by her enthusiasm and left feeling excited to write, draw and create their own stories. 

Thank you to Julia from "Ottie and the Bea" bookshop on the Market Hill for helping arrange and organise the visit.  It was a very motivational session - the children didn't want it to finish!!

A Musical Treat for Year 6

On Wednesday, Year 6 enjoyed attending the lunchtime concert at St Michael’s Church, part of an Autumn Series hosted by the Framlingham Concerts - Community Interest Company. We were treated to a fantastic recital by pianist Duncan Honeybourne, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience live music in such a beautiful setting. Thank you to everyone involved for a wonderful performance.

  

Year 5: Getting to Know the Violin

In our second Year 5 violin lesson, we learned the parts of the violin and practised holding it correctly. We also played the open strings G, D, A and E, and the children showed great focus and enthusiasm as their confidence continued to grow.

Reception Applications for September 2027

Applications for children joining a Reception Class in September 2027 are now open through Suffolk Admissions.

We are a successful and well-resourced CEVAP School of up to 350 children, in the delightful market town of Framlingham. We have a dedicated team of staff and enthusiastic pupils who are confident and motivated. Our teachers support a wide range of extra-curricular activities which enhance the breadth of opportunities available to our children. We have an intake of up to 50 Reception pupils in each academic year.

Please contact us to arrange to join one of our small group or private tours in September, October or November, where we can show you around our wonderful school.

On your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to see our extensive school facilities including our fabulous school field with our Robin Wood area, our magnificent Music Ark, our curriculum kitchen, our two large playgrounds and of course our super Reception classes and their dedicated outside areas.  You’ll also get to meet the terrific team that we have in Reception and see the children in action in the classes.

We were delighted that our last Ofsted inspection, again, we were graded as ‘Good’, defining us as “a happy and friendly school”, where “pupils enjoy their learning and the time they spend together”.

Specifically, they noted that in Early Years the adults “guide children’s learning through thoughtful questions that help children extend their thinking and their play” and our “well-chosen books and stories expose children to rich language from a young age” and that our Early Years team “support children well to use accurate and precise sounds when learning to read”.

Friendship Assembly at Church

We gathered together in church for a special assembly to mark the start of the school year.  Mrs Cann focused our current value of friendship and encouraged us to reflect on the importance of being kind, supportive and caring friends. 

Mrs Nunn shared the story of the Good Samaritan, reminding us that friendship is shown through kindness, compassion and helping others. Our Year 6 pupils displayed the qualities that make a good friend:-  being kind, honest, helpful, supportive, respect, helpful, inclusivity and forgiveness. It was a wonderful opportunity for us all to think about how we can strengthen friendships and continue to build a caring school community.

Rev Chris Davey finished the assembly with a blessing for the school and talked about the importance of friendship not just in school but also in the community and globally. 

Class SB: Growing Our Imaginations

As we begin a new school year, means a new class book for Class SB; Flower Block by Lanisha Butterfield and Hoang Giang, a heartwarming story about the power of nature and community. Inspired by the book, the children designed their own imaginative plants and wrote descriptive sentences using expanded noun phrases and relative clauses. We are delighted to share a few examples of their wonderful work.

  

Waste-Free Wednesdays

As part of our commitment to reducing waste within the Our School, Our World initiative, we will be introducing Waste-Free Wednesdays.

On Wednesdays, we encourage children to bring packed lunches in reusable lunch boxes and containers and to avoid single-use plastics where possible. By reducing unnecessary packaging and choosing recyclable or reusable options, we can work together to cut down on waste and help protect our environment. Of course, it doesn’t have to be just Wednesdays but it would be a good starting point!

Some ideas include:

• Reusable lunch boxes instead of disposable bags
• Refillable drinks bottles
• Reusable snack containers
• Avoiding individually wrapped items where possible

Small changes can make a big difference, and we appreciate your support in helping our children become environmentally responsible citizens.

Welcome Back to the New School Year

 

Nursery Admissions for January 2027

Our Nursery is an environment where children have a variety of experiences through play, helping to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them and give them a strong foundation upon which to start to build the curriculum.

Our Nursery can take children from the beginning of the term following their third birthday.   Children may have up to five terms of free part-time early learning with us before they join the Reception class.  

Nursery Application forms can be downloaded here for 2026/27 or pop into the office to collect a printed form.

Applications for January 2027 should be returned to the school office by 25 September 2026, please, for us to allocate places in accordance with our Nursery Admissions Policy.  Admission forms for April 2027 should be returned to the school office by early January 2027.

In addition, we have a chargeable lunch club that runs until 1.30pm. Nursery children may have a school dinner or bring a packed lunch.  During this period and for their playtime in or outside, the children remain fully supervised.  We do not offer 30 hours of funded childcare, but you may use extended hours to cover the additional cost of the lunch club (up to 8 hours 20 mins) if you are eligible.
