CLUB & ACTIVITY LIST AUTUMN 2014
Amendments to Penalty Notices Code of Conduct to tackle non-school attendance
Reducing absence from school is a key priority both nationally and locally. In Suffolk, we appreciate that the majority of parents ensure that their children attend school regularly.
Suffolk County Council is committed to providing all children with the best start in life and works hard to improve the attendance of a small but significant minority.
This letter is to inform you that, from 1st September 2014, the Education Attendance Service on behalf of Suffolk County Council will be issuing fixed penalty notice fines when unauthorised absence occurs and where a pupil is stopped with parents / carers during a truancy sweep and the absence is not authorised by the school.
It is important that you ensure that your child(ren) attend school regularly and if your child is absent from school you must make the school fully aware of the circumstances. Please remember that schools are limited in the reasons they can accept for absences and they are required to notify the Local Authority if a pupil is regularly missing school for unacceptable reasons.
If you are concerned about your child’s school attendance it is important that you contact your child’s school as soon as possible to discuss the problem.

CIRCUS IN TOWN! - newsletter 5
Circus Ferrel is coming to Framlingham Sir Robert Hitcham's school field
for the week commencing 8 September and all of the pupils will be taught a
range of circus skills in their big top during the week. Starting on Wednesday there will be 4 full
circus shows open to everyone lasting approximately 90 minutes (including
an interval). Every child also has the
chance to perform in one of these circus shows alongside the professional
performers, if they wish to. In order to do this your child must
be accompanied by an adult during the shows to supervise them when they are not
actually performing. You will also need
to purchase tickets for your child and accompanying adults as your child will
only be participating in a part of the performance.
PLEASE NOTE: TO REDUCE THE IMPACT ON RESIDENTS NEAR THE FIELD PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN COUCY CLOSE – PLEASE USE ELMS CAR PARK OR ELSEWHERE. Only disabled drop off allowed by field gates.
You can of course come and enjoy any of the shows even if your child
does not wish to perform. Tickets can be
pre-ordered from the school office at a special price of just £5 per seat using the
form for any of the shows. Tickets will also be available on the door 20
minutes before show times at the normal price of £6 per seat. As ticket sales are the only means that the
circus has of supporting the free workshops please bring as many family and
friends as possible!

the catering team will automatically give every child a spoonful of vegetables.

MORRISONS ‘LET IT GROW’

We will again be collecting
the vouchers for this – please pop any you may have in the box outside the
school office, until 28 October. Thank you.
Newsletter 2 - NO NUT POLICY IN SCHOOL
We have 2
children at school who are extremely sensitive and allergic to NUTS. EVEN IF THEY ARE TOUCHED BY SOMEONE WHO HAS
HANDLED NUTS OR PRODUCTS CONTAINING TRACES OF NUTS it could bring on
anaphylactic shock which can be life threatening.
WE ASK
PARENTS TO BE VIGILANT PLEASE AND CHECK THAT THEIR CHILDREN’S LUNCH BOX
CONTENTS DO NOT HAVE ITEMS CONTAINING NUTS OR NUT PRODUCTS for example:
Peanut butter, Nutella, some cereal bars, and
any product that says ‘May contain traces of nuts’ or nut oils or nut essences.
Similarly,
if you bring snacks to the playground at the end of the day for children to eat
before going home please can I ask that you are VERY CAREFUL that they do not
contain nuts or traces of nuts and that leftovers are not abandoned on the
playground.
We cannot
stress how important this is.
Your help
and co-operation is much appreciated.
On-line payments for school meals for KS2 parents - Newsletter 3
Parents can pay for school dinners on-line, on a weekly or
half-termly basis. We are using a system run by SCC, which operates at no cost
to the school or families. You will be aware that in order to streamline the
dinner money processing we only accept payments by any means on a Monday (unless
your child is absent).
You should allow 2 days for processing, and as we will need notification of the payment on a Monday, if you are paying weekly, you will need to make the online payment by the previous Friday.
Payment needs to be for a minimum of 5 meals, but those 5 meals can be spread over any time period. The system is NOT able to process payments in arrears; however you can make over-payments and add comments in the box detailing what days the overpayments are for.
Credits will still be carried forward, should your child be ill, or change their mind about the days they have chosen.
Once you have completed payment you will receive a confirmation email from SCC, who will also notify us with details of the payment.
We hope that this system will provide a more convenient method of payment for parents. Please contact the office for more information.
Go to www.eats-catering and select ‘On-Line Payment’

How could your child benefit from the ‘Pupil Premium Package’ funding? (Newsletter 4)
With
some of the changes you may have heard about in the news we wanted to remind
parents about Government funding into schools and the way in which you, as
parents, could help increase these funds.
The Pupil Premium Package, also known as PPP, is a Government scheme which will allocate an additional sum of money per eligible child to the school (i.e. those who receive any of the benefits listed overleaf).
In addition to support in the classroom this PPP funding can be spent on YOUR child to cover the costs of:
· attendance at a breakfast club
· after school clubs and activities
· payments for trips and visits
· subsidised music tuition
· a school sweatshirt
· your child continuing to be eligible for free school meals when they progress to KS2
The school will handle this sensitively and
confidentially, and at no point will other pupils be aware of your child
receiving the Pupil Premium Package.
· Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance;
· Employment Support Allowance (Income related);
· Child Tax Credit, and you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by H M Revenues & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190;
· the Guarantee Element of the State Pension Credit;
· support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
· if a parent is entitled to Working Tax Credit during the four-week period immediately after their employment ceases, or after they start to work less than 16 hours per week
and click on the link, or follow the link from our website front page.
If you need any more information please contact the Customer Service Centre on 0845 606 6173, or ask at the school office.
