Class VW have been trying to develop a better understanding
of why the Black Death was such a problematic disease.
We explored the growth
of bacteria by swabbing a range of equipment and spreading on agar jelly in a
petri dish, to see which area/ object is the most contaminated.
We also placed
hand- sanitizing gel on one of the plates to observe what happened.
The petri-
dishes were taped and placed in a clear zipper bag in order to prevent
contamination.
As a class, we discussed the need to uphold strict hygiene
practises.
