We had a wonderful Service today at St Michael's Church, led by the Year 5 children in the celebration of Easter.
The children sang beautifully and the whole event felt very atmospheric.

We're delighted to announce that last week's school disco raised over a whopping £1,100! Thank you to everyone involved in this event!
This goes some way in helping us hit the £6,000 target which we've set for this academic year. Please see our poster attached which details how much all the wonderful fundraising activities have raised so far this year and some up-and-coming events for you to put in your diary.
The poster illustrates the wish list of products that the school would like to use the money for - from reading books and maths resources to rugs and laptops!
If
you have any further ideas you think the school could consider or can help with
any of these wish list items (perhaps through your work), please let us know by
emailing us at friends@hitchams.suffolk.sch.uk

On Monday, Year 6 took part in a swimming competition at Framlingham College. Lots of different schools took part with a total of 14 teams competing. The children swam in individual races including, front crawl, breast stroke and back stroke. They also swam in medley and front crawl relays too. All SRH children should be very proud of themselves for their swimming and all showed determination, team work and sportsmanship. It was a lovely morning and the children had lots of fun! Well done Year 6!
A huge well done to the children who went to the hockey tournament today.
Despite the wet and cold they competed very well and put in some great performances against some very good teams.
All the children showed great team spirit, determination and resilience.
They should be all very proud. Congratulations to all of them.
Mr Jewell
This week we have relished our Outdoor learning space. We have been managing turn taking on the wheeled toys and the (very popular) climbing A frame.
We checked on our growing potatoes (nothing to see yet) and discovered some wiggly worms that needed rescuing from the hard ground and rehoming in our flower bed.
We enjoyed being together exploring the water, sand and playing in the mud kitchen too.
Thanks once again to the Suffolk RoadSafe team for their excellent Bikeability training session to our Year 5/6 pupils.
The children are part way through their two days intensive training. During the training they will learn how to look after their bicycles, spend time learning key cycling & indicating skills on the playground, spend a day and a half on the roads around the school in Framlingham. By the end of the course, they aim to give the children confidence on the roads and to help them learn the skills needed to become safe cyclists.
There will be further Bikeability training in September for Year 5 & 6.
Last
Thursday, we hosted our very first science fair where every child was
encouraged to get involved and showcase experiments and demonstrate their
scientific knowledge. All the children, from nursery to Year 6 were asked to
research, design, investigate and create a science project at home that would
reflect their interests and enthusiasm for science. The project could be
presented in any way that they felt was most appropriate and we were inundated
with the most amazing, creative and hugely inspiring entries.
Each class visited the fair throughout the day where they were able to view and interact with all the amazing projects on display and learn about all the incredible science that had been going on during the week. To mention just a few, we had an interactive set of lungs, robotic hands, balloon car racers, catapults and cannons, a test tube kaleidoscope, bouncy eggs, a whirlpool in a bottle, a potato powered house, the most incredible lighted solar system, a DNA quiz that was hugely popular by all year groups and an interactive science park. The fair was hosted by some incredible Year 6 Science ambassadors who were not only there to demonstrate some of these incredible projects but also to talk to the visiting classes about the science behind them too, and they did a fantastic job!
The science fair was a real celebration of science, all the children (and the teachers too) thoroughly enjoyed being able to explore all the wonderful projects on display and it was an incredibly inspiring event for all the pupils. Thank you to all the pupils and families who got involved with the science week competitions and for making our first SRH Science Fair such a huge success!
