Over the first few weeks of term, our whole-school writing focus is centred around 'Journey' by Aaron Becker, used as our 'Writing Root' through the Literacy Tree curriculum. Literacy Tree provides a step-by-step framework with creative activities that develop strong writing skills and inspire imagination.
'Journey' is a wordless picture book about a girl’s magical adventure using a red marker. Without words, it encourages children to use their own language to tell the story and build their skills.
To launch this, Mrs Cann revealed key items from the book: a red balloon, blanket, crayon, and boat during last Monday's assembly, exciting both children and staff!
Literacy Tree also links literacy with other subjects, helping students apply their skills across the curriculum.
