Happy Birthday to the Queen!
LH class assembly was packed full of new and interesting
facts about the Queen and her life which the children found out from their
research. They also included some of their portraits of the Queen and the
bunting that they made for the Queen’s celebrations.
The children performed confidently and clearly and the
audience learnt lots of new information. Well done LH!
Feel the Force
Class VW have
been learning about Forces in Science.
Forces are powerful and are everywhere –
they can start something moving, stop something moving, speed something up,
slow it down, change the direction of something or even change its shape! Everything
that moves has had a
force applied to it; even objects that aren’t moving are still under the action
of forces! We measured the force acting on different common
classroom objects by hanging them in a bag from a force meter.

Bressingham Day
The children in
Foundation - classes CH, KM and Nursery enjoyed a
wonderful trip to Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens on Wednesday.
They were thrilled by the huge engines, wowed by
the royal train and excited by the rides on the trains and the carousel. They
spent time looking at the old vehicles in the Exhibition Hall and talking about
how things had changed, particularly enthralled by the fire engine and postal
train. The miniature railway was a huge hit, especially when the children
recognised the characters from Thomas the Tank Engine coming round the track,
and the children even got the chance to visit an old signal box and to see a
steam roller caravan.
The beautiful gardens were a joy to explore and a
wonderful place for lunch. We had a fabulous day together, huge thanks to
everyone concerned.
Mrs Mawson, says “Our children were wonderful
ambassadors for our school and I had an amazing day with them all. We wanted to
see how many of our class it took to hug a tree – all of us, in fact!... and we discovered a tiny little frog underneath the bridge in the stunning gardens.”
Healthy Teeth
Today Years 3 and 4 had a visit from
Mrs Rice, who is an oral health educator.
She talked to the children about the
structure and functions of different types of teeth. We also looked at some
animal skulls and discovered what teeth they have, and why.
Mrs Rice will be visiting the
children twice next week, to talk about the correct way to brush our teeth and
how what we eat affects our teeth.
Yoga Wow!
The children at school have thoroughly enjoyed their yoga sessions this year with the delightful and most relaxing 'Yoga Jo'. This term the Reception class are excited that it's their turn.
"Hooray, it is our turn now"
The yoga sessions have been really popular with the children and their parents, and we've had some lovely feedback about it. You'll be pleased to know the school will be funding this again for next year.Jubilee Opera
Jubilee Opera were in school yesterday teaching songs from the
opera The Rattler – “The True and Original Story of Rumplestiltskin” (being
performed at The Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh on July 3rd)
A big thank you to Mish Kelly and Sue Knight from Jubilee
Opera for an engaging and most enjoyable afternoon which the whole school
(apart from Foundation) thoroughly enjoyed. The children were singing the songs all the
way back to their classes and even home!

The Friends raised an impressive £192 at
the parents cricket game at Worlingworth Cricket Club on 28 May verses a few staff, ex staff and volunteers. It was a great day with Mr Bk's team putting in an
impressive victory. Rupert Durrant, Chair of the Friends, would like to thank all those that turned up to play and

The Minotaur seeks revenge!!
Class LH were set a challenge over half term to invent and
create their own new mythical creature as part of our Ancient Greek
learning.
We have examined the story of Theseus and the Minotaur through
role play, fact files and video. The remit was to be as creative as
they wanted to be in their own design – and what a range of creativity we
had – various models from clay, salt-dough, and cardboard boxes, a knitted/sewn
creature, some children used Minecraft, there was a variety of posters, someone
sang a song to describe their creature and somebody else even baked a
cake!! Well done class LH on letting your creative juices flow!!!

Planets in scale
VW visited the school field with trundle
sticks to investigate the movement of the Earth and other planets, relative to
the Sun in the solar system. We looked at the relative distances of planets from
the Sun and discussed the word 'scale' .
They worked with a
scale of 1cm ≡ 1000km. The children had to work together and make sure that the Sun was the point from
where all measurements were taken.

...matchboxes filled with 100 things...
some wonderful ideas like - fingerprints on sellotape, a dream, a cocoon, a dab of nailvarnish, rape seed, mosquito wing, spray of perfume, a secret, a sim card... and much more.
Top score is 126!
Minibeast Creations
As a part of our express week, class AB have created their
own minibeasts using junk modelling. They started by designing their
minibeasts, thinking carefully about how they could create each of the body
parts. Then, they started to build their minibeasts and decorate them. Each
child thought about what colour theirs needed to be as well as all the
different body parts. These are some of the finished products. Please come and
have a look at all of them, in Class AB!
