Newsletter 8
As in previous years we are again supporting Samaritan’s Purse.
Each shoe box should be filled with items as specified in the leaflet handed out today and should be clearly labelled. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO CUSTOMS REGULATIONS there are items that cannot be included – please read the leaflet. Extra leaflets are available from the school office.
We cannot send the boxes if there is no £2.50 to cover the transport costs, so please only send in shoeboxes with the accompanying £2.50.
Please return the filled shoe boxes to school by FRIDAY 8 NOVEMBER so that we can arrange collection. THANK YOU.
We should not accept loose cash in the school office – PLEASE can we remind parents that dinner monsy should come in an envelope with your child’s NAME and CLASS and the DAYS they want lunch on it. Without this information you payment may not be recorded. Cheques too should have these details on the reverse. THANK YOU in advance for your help .
GENERAL CATERING ASSISTANTS REQUIRED
EATs Catering have vacancies for Relief General Catering Assistants in Suffolk to work a minimum of 2 hours a day, term time only in various schools. Full training will be given. You may need to travel to various sites, so a full driving licence and car insurance with business use is essential. Travel expenses paid at 45p/mile. Rate of pay £6.29 per hour. If you are interested please contact Mrs Chapman in our school kitchen.
CHOIR CANCELLED AGAIN THIS WEEK – Volunteers still required
As we have had no offers of help from a volunteer adult for Wednesday after school choir we are afraid that it will definitely be cancelled again this week. We will update parents via this letter next week if this is a permanent cancellation or just temporary until a volunteer comes forward. IF YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE, thank you.
REMINDER - ADMISSIONS APPLICATIONS FOR STARTING SCHOOL 2013/2014
Reception Applications letters and forms for next year are now available at the school office.
Please note they MUST be returned to the Admissions Team at Ipswich by 15 January 2013.

HARVEST FESTIVAL COLLECTION
Thank you to all those parents who donated food gifts for Harvest which will be taken to the West Villa Homeless Families Unit in Ipswich and the collection at the end of the KS1 / KS2 service raised £101.30 will go to the Soup Kitchen in Ipswich.

Mills Win House Football Tournment
After an exciting tournament on Friday afternoon, MILLS won the house football competition with HITCHAM in 2nd and a much improved BULSTRODE in 3rd.

PERSONAL AND EMERGENCY DETAILS FOR PUPILS
1 week deadline - please return by Tuesday 9 October
It is essential that we maintain accurate up-to-date pupil data, especially for emergency contacts and medical details. With this letter please find a copy of the latest pupil data we have for your child/ren. Please check the details and write on any necessary amendments, sign the sheet at the bottom and then return it to the school office.
Emergency Contacts: It has been noted that some children have only 1 contact number – obviously if there is an emergency with your child and that number is unanswered it means we have no alternative contact. Wherever possible can you please provide more than 1 contact person / number.
Other Information: The system will only allow us to enter 1 selection for Travel Arrangements - if your child uses the school bus even if occasionally, please tick ‘School Bus’; otherwise tick the mode of transport that is used most frequently.
Keeping these details up to date at all times is very important and if any information should change during the year, please let us know. Thank you.
Please return the signed data sheet to us no later than Tuesday 9 October.
Each pupil data sheet MUST have a parental signature at the bottom of the page.
HARVEST FESTIVAL REMINDER– Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October
Our services will take place on Thursday 4 October in St Michael’s church for Foundation and on Friday 5 October at 9.30am for Key Stage 1 at 9:30am and Key Stage 2 at 10:30am. Parents are welcome to attend either service. Each child may bring in 1 or 2 small items to present for our Harvest collection. Please no glass jars or bottles as the pupils have to carry them to church.
KEY STAGE ONE PHONICS – SUPPORT FOR LEARNING AT HOME
We have recently discovered some issues with accessing the phonics link on our website to hear how to pronounce the phonemes. We have now updated the link to Jolly Phonics which has a page which demonstrates pronunciation of the sounds.

If you would be interested in joining the committee in this role, they would be very pleased to hear from you. It is a very rewarding post, working with a great group of parents who help to raise funds that are used for the benefit of all children in the school. They are a friendly team, with a number of new members starting this year. You do not need any specific skills, just the ability to work well as part of a team and to be enthusiastic about the role.

APPLE PRESSING DAY – Sunday 7 October
Families are invited to come along to pick and press apples and have a go at other apple related activities. If you wish to take some apple juice home, then remember to bring a sterilised bottle or ‘pour and store’ bags. Tea and coffee will be on tap, but do bring biscuits and cakes to keep you going. 2-5pm at the Greener Fram Community Garden, New Road.

Year 6 Children Go Top of the Maths League
Children from year 6 at SRH have been enjoying improving their maths skills on the Mathletics website.
Children score points for completing various tasks.
They can also play 'Live Mathletics' - competing directly against other users around the world.
As of this morning SRH is the top scoring school in the UK and in 8th place in the World.
In order to stay near the top we need to keep playing & earning points.

BAG2SCHOOL COLLECTION
Just a reminder that the charity bag collection is THIS Wednesday.
Bags should be left in the pavilion on the front playground please before 9am.
NURSERY OPEN MORNING REMINDER
If you have a child born BEFORE 31 December 2009, do come along to our
NURSERY OPEN MORNING on Thursday 27 September from 10.00 – 11.30am.
Parents are welcome to pop in on this date to look around (with or without children).
Please can we ask that ALL clothes, shoes, bags, lunchboxes and any other property has your child’s NAME on it please. If we find unnamed property we have no way of getting it back to the right pupil which means parents end up having to buy replacements.
CLUB UPDATES:
HHH (Wednesday) - this will be held in the hall from now on.
CHOIR (Wednesday) – this will be held in the upstairs Music Room/Computer suite.
YEAR 4 LUNCHTIME FOOTBALL - This has now moved to Wednesday lunchtime instead of Thursday. Pupils will need PE Kit plus football socks, shin pads, either football boots or trainers. As the weather gets colder we recommend tracksuit bottoms / joggers and sweat top.
PLEA FOR READING HELPERS
The following classes still need volunteers to help with reading please:
Class LC on a Monday or Wednesday morning; Class CH on a Wednesday or Friday morning.
GOING HOME ARRANGEMENTS
Please can we remind parents that any changes to who your child is going home with should be given to the teacher in writing on that day; only in emergencies (ie delays in collecting) should parents call the office who can pass a verbal message to the teacher. Thank you.
CHILDREN PLEASE ‘WASH YOUR HANDS’
We have been advised that there has been another case of Threadworm in the school. Good hygiene is the only way to prevent infections like this from spreading and causing further infection, for more information: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Threadworms/Pages/Introduction.aspx
In school, teachers have again been reminding children about the importance of regular hand washing, especially after using the toilet.
Please can we ask that parents help to reinforce this message.
CLEANING VACANCIES AT SCHOOL
If anyone is interested in a cleaning role at the school please contact our contract cleaning company EFMS – Trish Riches on 07515 192 252. They are looking to recruit additional members to their cleaning team.

Please find with this letter a ‘Waiting for Christmas’ permission form.
This form MUST be returned to us by Friday 28 September – children will not be able to attend the recording day or performance unless we have this permission slip.

Tennis Club
After school tennis club is run by Anthony from Framlingham Tennis club on Tuesdays after school. It is open to boys and girls from key stage 2.
Reading Club gets underway
Mrs Akerman runs an after school reading club on Tuesdays.
Here are the members meeting for the first time with some of their favourite books.
House Football Tournament
In glorious Autumn weather an inter house football tournament was held after school on Friday.
Our house flags (made for Olympic Sports Day) were being waved.
