MRS ARMSTRONG
We are very sad to announce that after 27 years as a teacher at Sir Robert Hitcham’s Mrs Armstrong will be leaving teaching at the end of the Summer term.  After so many years here, it will be hard to imagine the school without her.  I am sure you will all join me in wishing her well in her new role as administrator at her local church.
If any parents, past or present, or any former pupils of Mrs Armstrong would like to make a donation to her leaving collection please do so via an envelope stating ‘Leaving Collection – Mrs Armstrong’ to the school office, by 1 July.  Thank you.

GOVERNOR GOODBYES
We are very sad to announce that at the end of the summer term 4 of our longstanding governors will be stepping down from their positions.  Our Governors do an outstanding job, purely on a voluntary basis, giving their time and support in making the school a better place for our children.  They give up hours of time for meetings, training, observations in school and visits to the teachers and children.  In addition, some also help with afterschool clubs.
It is with a sad heart that we will be saying goodbye to Revd Canon Graham Owen (chair of Governors), Kate Hunt, Deborah Schofield and Mrs Cann (who will still be teaching, just not representing the staff on the governing body anymore). Between them they have been Governors for around 40 years!!
If you would like to contribute to our collection for them, please do so via an envelope stating ‘Leaving Collection – Governors’ to the school office, by 1 July.  Thank you.

EMULSION PAINT NEEDED URGENTLY!
We are in need of emulsion paint in greens, browns or blues to paint the scenery for the year 6 Wind in the Willows production.  If you have any please speak to Mrs Turner in class DB,

BAGS2SCHOOL COLLECTION
The Friends are pleased to let parents know that the last charity bag collection raised £190.
Thank you to everyone who cleared their clutter and bagged it up for the Friends.
FLORA – TUBS4TABLETS
Flora have teamed up with Tesco to give primary and middle schools across the UK the chance to get their hands on thousands of pounds worth of touch screen tablets - simply by collecting tokens in special tubs of Flora.  WE will be collecting these from 24 June, so please look out for them and pop them into the collecting box at the office after this date. See: http://www.flora.com/Flora/Tubs4Tablets for more information

GUITAR LESSONS
We are sending out a letter this week to children in Year 2 – 5, regarding Guitar lessons from September.  If your child is interested in starting lessons, with Mr Osborne, the experienced tutor from the County Music Service, then please complete the form and return it to the office.   If your child is already having lessons and wishes to continue next year, then you must also complete the form. The deadline to return it is 21 June 2013.

‘READY TO LEARN’ Campaign
With this letter we attach a short guide for parents from the ‘Family Action’ charity in conjunction with the National Association of Head Teachers.  It offers information based on the latest research about what helps children to succeed at school.

THROAT SWEETS
Some children have been bringing in throat/cough sweets to take in school, however we are now finding this is getting out of hand.  We have previously stated that if your child can’t get through the school day without them that you must write a note and give them to the class teacher.  Children must not keep these in their tray/bag.  Those children who do not have a note should not have these in school.  Thank you for your assistance on this.

SAINSBURYS VOUCHERS – DEADLINE NEARING
We finish collecting these on Friday 14 June, so if you have an hiding away in bags/purses, please pop them in the box outside the school office. Thank you.
