Classes SC and VW have been learning
about the diet of people in Medieval Britain.
Mrs. Turner helped the children
make pottage and soda bread. The people of Medieval England ate a lot of pottage and it formed
a significant part of their diet. There were many different types of pottage,
with people adding beans, peas, turnips and parsnips. Leek pottage was
especially popular but relied upon the conditions being ideal for growth. The
children had a wonderful morning and sampled their creations. They also appreciated
the variety of foods we have available to us today.
Thank you to Mrs. Turner
for all your help.
