School Closed on Friday

There has been more snow overnight particulary to the east of Framlingham with more predicted today. The conditions this morning are very icy plus freezing fog. These extreme conditions mean that it is not safe for travelling to and from school today. Thomas Mills High School is also closed today.
We are concerned about the children missing out on learning time in school. They will, however, be having great experiences no doubt in the snow. We would be grateful if the children could spend a bit of time doing a piece of writing (it could be descriptive or perhaps a poem) and or drawing about something they have experienced over the last few days. Some digital photographs might also be interesting particularly of animals or plants - see photo of berries below for example. Upper key stage 2 children have just started a study on 'Polar Regions'. They could do some research on Polar Explorers or Animals Adapted to Living in Polar Regions - how have they adapted their body, appearance, skills, food chains etc? This photo (taken by Mr Brook) shows a ram in its full winter coat. How has it adapted its coat and why is it a particular colour?

It is also important that children do some reading today and over the weekend.
Hopefully we will be open on Monday - please check the Blog for confirmation. We were due to have a day of French activities on Monday (with some people from Liverpool coming down to lead us) but this has now been postponed to another date later in the term. Some children had been told about bringing items in for a French breakfast - please do not now.
We would be grateful if anybody reading this blog (from our school) passes on all of this information to your friends and neighbours. Thank you and have a safe and enjoyable long weekend.
