SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB LEAFLET
The latest book club leaflet has been handed out. Orders need to be returned by Tuesday 19 January. Payment by cheque payable to ‘Scholastic Ltd’ or credit card. (Sorry, no cash can be accepted).
SNACKS
Please may we remind parents at break time children should only have fruit or vegetable snacks. They should not be having any other type of snack. Dried fruit is acceptable, however snacks that are packaged like Fruit Flakes/ Bars/Winders or Cereal Bars are not. These should be kept for lunch boxes.
MAIL
Many parents now receive their whole school letters by email. If you would like to register please do email us saying so (admin@hitchams.suffolk.sch.uk). We are endeavouring not to produce a ‘hard’ copy to those households that receive letters by email, so please ensure your child is aware they do not need to receive a paper copy. Those who are already registered do not need to re-register.
CROSSING PATROL
The Crossing Patrol has mentioned that some children arrive before 8.25am unaccompanied. She is not ready to start until 8.25am, pupils should not arrive there before then as she is unable to help them cross.
School does not open until 8.30am.
NATIONAL PRIVATE FOSTERING CAMPAIGN - 22- 28 February 2010
Do you have someone living at your house that is under 16 years of age, or 18 if they have a disability, and is not a member of your family or a close relative? Has this person lived with you for over 28 days? If so then this is called private fostering and Suffolk County Council needs to know in order to:
• to make sure that the living arrangement meets the needs of the child/young person
• to obtain the child/young person’s feelings about where they are living
• to provide you with free advice, support, training and information
Suffolk County Council has introduced new procedures for children who are privately fostered, and the County Asylum and Private Fostering Team have established links with the childcare teams and undertake assessments. Even though these are considered private fostering arrangements, Suffolk County Council still needs to know.
All Local Authorities have a duty to satisfy themselves that the welfare of the children concerned is being satisfactorily safeguarded and promoted. Failure by a private foster carer, or parent, to notify a Local Authority of a private fostering arrangement is an offence.
There are several reasons why it happens including when children are:
• sent to this country for education or health care by parents who live overseas
• living with a friend’s family because their parents’ study or work involves unsociable hours, which make it difficult to use ordinary day care or after-school care or
• staying with another family because their parents have separated or divorced, or they do not get on with their own family.
