Whole School Letter (19)

Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to school to everyone
and especially to parents of children who are new to our school for 2010

CELEBRATION ASSEMBLIES
Celebration Assemblies are on Fridays at 2.30pm. Parents are invited to watch their own child’s class and we would ask that you take your seats by 2.25pm. We endeavour to bring the children in as quietly as possible and we would appreciate the parents joining us in this. The rota is as follows:

IMPORTANT REMINDER - MATHEMATICS WORKSHOP – 12 January
Please may we remind you that if you have not already returned the form to attend the workshop that you do so this week, thank you – another copy of the original letter is attached for your information. Please note that following the workshop, Y1 to Y6 children will be sent home with two pieces of maths homework that week to be done with their parents. There will be no literacy homework that week.

LIVING WITH CHILDREN COURSE – Information Session 7 January
There will be an introductory meeting for those parents who are as yet undecided as to whether they wish to attend this course, and for those who have already confirmed. The meeting will be held in school on Thursday 7 January from 3.10 – 3.40pm, We are sorry there will be no crèche on this date, but you may wish to have children with you!

KEY STAGE 1 CHARACTER DAY – Friday 8 January
A reminder that the children in Classes KT, LC and JC should dress up as a character from a ‘Classic Book’ or traditional Nursery Rhyme for this day.

FRENCH DAY – Monday 11 January
We have a visiting company called Euroclub who are planning a whole day of activities incorporating French vocabulary, including games, songs and French culture. There will be a French ‘breakfast’ at the start of the day and an Assembly at the end. The breakfast for KS1 & KS2 will include a Madeline and a croissant, however if your child has any food allergies, please can we ask that you provide a suitable replacement item of food so your child may join in.

CHARITY DAY – GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND – Friday 15 January
The School Council have chosen to raise funds for this charity. The children can wear their own clothes and we would ask they try to find an item of clothing with dots (to represent the Braille system blind people use to read) or dogs on, if not then wear either bright or stripy clothes or bring in a toy dog, a donation of 50p is suggested.

YEAR 5 SINGING CONCERT – Tuesday 9 March
The Year 5 Children will be singing in a concert at Thomas Mills High School on Tuesday 9 March, more details will follow. Rehearsals will be held in school time on 26 January and 9 March.

CELEBRATION OF SCHOOL MUSIC – Saturday 13 March
On the evening of 13 March there will be a celebration of school music at Snape, more details to follow.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Attached is a list about the activities that go on during the spring term, please note that Maypole does not start until after half term. Mrs Pascoe will be sending a letter home nearer the time.

CHRISTMAS DRAW SUCCESS
The Friends are really pleased to let you know that we raised £543 on the Grand Prize Draw. They also raised £605 at the Disco and Santa’s Grotto.

CHEQUES
Please can we ask that you write the NAME and CLASS of your child(ren) on the BACK of any cheques given in at school (eg dinner money, uniform orders, school trips etc)

ADMISSIONS CONSULTATIONS 2011/12
SCC consultation with parents regarding Admission arrangements for 2011/12 can be found online at www.suffolk.gov.uk, for those interested the online reply form should be completed by 26 February.

BAD WEATHER ARRANGEMENTS
The forecast shows we may have snow again at the end of the week. We make every possible effort to ensure that the school remains open in the event of bad weather conditions, please listen to the following radio stations to hear whether the school has to be closed:
