VOLUNTEER CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING
Just a reminder for those volunteers who have not yet done this training, to return the bright pink slips indicating if you are able to attend on Thursday 25 April at 9am.

HOMEWORK SURVEY
Along with this letter you will find a survey for parents to complete about your children’s homework.  We are in the process of reviewing our homework policy and ask that you complete a survey for each of your children. Please return to the box by the office.

CAKE STALL & DISCO SUCCESS
Thank you to Mrs Eyles, her daughter and Mrs Hopkins for their help selling tuck at the KS1 disco, and a big thank you to all the parents who helped to supervise at both discos.
We couldn't do it without you! The disco raised a very impressive £343.
The cake stall before Easter was also a great success – thanks to classes KV & JC for the brilliant baking and thanks to all those who bought some treats, it raised £120.

CROSSING PATROL
SCC are in the process of advertising the post of Crossing Patrol, they have advised us that there is unlikely to be a Crossing Patrol in place on College Road for this half term.  Please can we remind parents that they will need to take steps to ensure their children get across the road safely.
We must also remind you that parking restrictions on College Road and New Road mean there are not safe/legal places where you can just drop off your child, so please can we ask that you allow extra time to park and escort your child into school.
Children who travel to school on the bus will be dropped off on the school side of the road so they do not have to cross.

SUN PROTECTION
Now the summer term has started I wanted to remind you about our Sun Protection policy. The sun’s rays are particularly strong in the summer and they can damage children’s skin, which can sadly lead to skin cancer in later life.
Your child’s health and well-being are very important to us, which is why we:
  * spend time learning about the importance of sun protection;
  * encourage pupils to wear hats when outside and to use sunscreen;
  * encourage pupils to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
More details can be found in our Sun Protection policy.
Of course, your support is very important if we are to make this work. You can help by:
  * talking to your child about the importance of sun protection at home;
  * applying a minimum factor 15 sunscreen to your child’s face, neck, arms and legs
   (if exposed) before they leave home, in order to safeguard them through the day;
  * always sending your child to school in a hat (preferably with a wide brim);
  * ensuring your child brings in a water bottle (with a sports cap).
COATS
However… as the British weather is so unpredictable can we please ask that children bring a waterproof coat with them as we still like them to go out at break and lunch times even if the weather is a little wet.

MONEY IN SCHOOL
Please note that all money coming into school should be in a sealed envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name, class, reason for payment and amount.
All money should be handed to the CLASS TEACHER, not at the office, and dinner money for the week must be handed in on a Monday, thank you.  Cheques must also state your child’s name & class on the reverse please.
