Newsletter 13

PARENT CONSULTATIONS
Parent Consultations on either Wednesday 20 or Thursday 21 November from 3.30pm – 6.00pm will be held in the hall, please allow extra time before your appointment to go to your child’s class to collect their tray to look at in the hall before your appointment.  Mrs Ambrose is unwell and her consultation date will be re-arranged.
We would expect all parents to have made an appointment to see the teacher.
In addition to seeing your child’s class teacher you may also book an appointment to see Mrs Picton or a parent Governor (either Mrs Hill or Mr Owen).  Please contact the school office who will book you an appointment time.

REMINDER – NO AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY
Due to parent consultations, please be aware there will be no Holy Horrors, Art Club or Orchestra after school this week.

BAG TO SCHOOL COLLECTION – Thursday 21 November
Please pack good condition clothing, bedding, belts & shoes (in pairs!) in the bags provided by the Friends.  More bags are available at the office.  Bring your bags to the front playground on the morning of the collection (by 8.45am)

VICTORIAN DAY SUCCESS
Last Tuesday’s Victorian Day was a resounding success as staff and children entered into the spirit of the day by dressing and behaving appropriately (with children remaining in silence – for most of the day!- while a few raised voices were heard from members of staff, especially Mr Vaughan!).
Evident throughout the day though was the learning that was taking place.
Here are a selection of quotes from the children where they show quite clearly how much they gained from the day:
“The best part was Arithmetic because I learnt all the units of money and
measures they used back then”
“The day was brilliant!”
“The best part was sewing because we got to make a bookmark”
“ I enjoyed the whole day because it was fun”
“Victorian children were scared of their teacher – I’m glad I didn’t go to a Victorian school!”
“We got to ring the hand bell”
“The best part was drill because we learnt how to march”
“I enjoyed Geography because we learnt which countries were in the British Empire”

DON’T FORGET…
NON-UNIFORM DAY ON FRIDAY
PLEASE BRING A DONATION TO THE FRIENDS OF:
CHRISTMAS HAMPER GOODIES
Bottles of alcohol, chocolates, festive food, new gifts (eg candles, toiletries),
new decorations, boxes of crackers etc…
REMEMBER: Clothing & footwear must be suitable for a normal day at school.

The singing club has been invited to sing at this service in St Michaels on Sunday 1 December.  The children should arrive in time for the 9.30am start; they can wear their own clothes.
It would be lovely if family and friends of the singing club, and any other family who wishes to, could come along to the service to give support and join in.
