Friends Christmas Hamper Draw

The Friends Christmas Hamper draw is back!

This year we have had to do things a bit differently, and the ticket sales and draw are online.  We are using an online ticketing and drawing system called ‘Raffall’, which is approved by the Gambling Commission and is a secure online system.

From all the tickets sold, 27 winning entrants will be drawn to each win one of our 27 sparkling hampers! See the photos of these fabulous hampers on the school website gallery.

The draw will happen on Wednesday 16th December at 12:30pm so you have until the morning of Weds 16th to purchase tickets!

Filming Underway

The weather put a bit of a dampener on the Nativity filming schedule today ... so we had a few soggy stars, some rather drenched angels, a class of soaked carolers and a very dripping donkey - but they are all still smiling!

Christmas Hampers - All Wrapped Up!

What an amazing job the Friends have done this morning!

They have wrapped 27 simply stunning hampers ready for their annual  fundraising Christmas Hamper Draw.

This year, because we are using an online raffle draw company to manage the ticket sales and draw, we cannot make dedicated class hampers. Instead, they have created many more hampers so there will be a whopping 27 winners across the school when the draw is made on 16 December, with hopefully at least one winner from each class.

FOREST SCHOOL

 CLASS JT -GROUP 2

Class JT (Group 2) have had a great time at Forest School. It has been lovely to see their confidence and independence grow over the last three weeks.

Year 6 get active.

 Year 6 have been developing teamwork skills. They are demonstrating great maturity and good sportsmanship on the pitch. Thank you children.

Odd Socks Day on Friday

This week is Anti-Bullying week  - In school the children will be taking part in different activities in their class bubble to raise their awareness of what to do if they think they, or someone else, may be being bullied. The lessons will cover online bullying too.

On Friday we’re having Odd Socks Day!

Odd Socks Day is designed as an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!  Odd Socks day takes place in Anti Bullying Week each year to help raise awareness of bullying. 

All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to school with your usual uniform on Friday, if you wish to.

Our Remembrance Service

At 11am on 11 November the school held an outdoor Remembrance Service.

Staff and children joined together to mark this solemn event.

This was the first time since March that the whole school had been able to be together.

We are lucky to have such a large front playground to enable the class bubbles to socially distance from each other.

The 'Last Post' was played for us by one of our ex-pupils from the High School.

In Class KM today we remember people who are special to us.

School Council

We are delighted that each of the classes has now appointed their class representatives for the school council.  Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, we are unable to meet as a group but that has not stopped school council getting involved in school life.

We welcome the following children who will represent their classes on to the school council:-

Their first role this year was to help make a wreath for the Remembrance Day service.  The wreath will be held  by representatives of the school council at our Remembrance Day service and it will then be displayed in school as we remember those who have died for us in previous wars.  Every school councillor has been involved in creating this special wreath. 

 

Applying for a school place for September 2021

All parents/carers of pre-school children who were born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 must make an application for a full-time school place for their child for September 2021 by the closing date of Friday 15 January 2021.

Where can parents find information about how to apply?

All of the information parents/carers need to help them make their decision is available on the SCC website at www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions, including information about the School Travel Policy and some School Travel Scenarios.

Parents/carers should apply for a school place online at  www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions.

Only those who are unable to apply online should complete and return to us a paper CAF1 application form which is available to download from www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions or by contacting us on 0345 600 0981.

Pupils will not be allocated a school place automatically.

All parents/carers must apply for a place, even if their child is already attending a nursery class in an infant or primary school, a pre-school or a children’s centre next to a school site. This is because a place in a nursery class, pre-school or children’s centre does not guarantee their child a full-time place at that school.

Spot the difference.... colour mixing in Class LH!

Our last piece of art relating to New Zealand was completed on the last day of term. 

For our final piece of work, we applied our knowledge and understanding of different colour mixing using ONLY the primary colours to create secondary colours.  All these amazing colour shades on the paintings were made using just red, yellow and blue.   It is fascinating to see how many different shades and tones of other colours, such as the green, purple and orange we were able to make from just these three colours.  

We all mixed our own palettes to create the other colours.  

The central yellow fern was used as the starting point for all our pictures but after that we mixed our own shades and tones of the other colours using trial and error. The outline of each area was completed using a black wax crayon.  

Examine them carefully to see the range of colours created!  Can you spot the differences?

 

Poppy Appeal

 Our school is supporting the Poppy Appeal again this year.

FOREST SCHOOL - CLASS JT

 Over the past three weeks Class JT(Group 1) have enjoyed spending some time at Robin Wood. They have explored the different areas within the woodland and learnt about the Forest School rules. They have enjoyed a number of activities including, building animal dens, making mud creations, digging for worms and treasures, making leaf garlands, bug hunting and making potions. We finished the last session by whittling a skewer and toasting a marshmallow over the campfire.
