Breaking news... new salad recipes in class LH!

As part of the Beachcombers topic, the children in class LH have made and designed a rainbow salad that they would make to take to the beach.

First of all we cut, grated, sliced and diced the range of vegetables for the salad: beetroot, lettuce, pepper, radish, cucumber, celery, tomato, cabbage, carrot, cress, watercress, rocket.

Using the bridge to cut the cucumber.

Preparing the vegetables for the salad.

Shelling the fresh peas too.

Grating the carrot, chopping the celery and cleaning the pepper seeds out.

Grating the cabbage.

Carefully, chopping the peppers.

After that, we all tasted the vegetables and it was lovely to see so many children trying something new that they hadn't tried before.

A taste test was then done for a range of dressings: mayonnaise, vinaigrette and salad cream.

The children chose 5 of their favourite vegetables to make the salad from and add the dressing, if they wanted.

We then tasted our tasty salads and evaluated these.

Our class salad recipe book will be hot of the press soon with an amazing range of recipes!  There are certainly some budding chefs amongst the class.
