Another frosty morning at Robin Wood which lead to lots of investigation and exploration. We introduced the children to a fire circle game to teach them about manoeuvring around the fire circle safely in preparation for a campfire next week, weather permitting. The children then worked as a group to collect, bundle and tie up sticks to hang in the tree to dry out for firewood.
The children were then shown how to use a fixed blade knife to whittle a stick to create their own woodland elf.
The rest of the morning was spent investigating the ice. The children used their imaginations adding ice to mud kitchen creations as well as potions. They also enjoyed experimenting by smashing the ice in different ways using different natural tools.
The children enjoyed a hot chocolate and a biscuit during the morning to help them warm up.
