Wild Little Letters Day

Today, the Eco Council visited Snape Maltings for a fun activity day.

Upon arrival, the children looked at the art exhibition entitled ‘On A Knife Edge- nature in peril’ which features beautiful artwork depicting endangered UK habitats and creatures. The children were able to look closely at the exhibits and were asked to locate their favourite and least favourite.

After this, the Suffolk Wildlife Trust led the group on a walk around the nature reserve, identifying and selecting leaves, etc. to use later on in the day for their art session back at school. We used our senses to identify different creatures and sounds in the vicinity. Thankfully, the sun shone brightly and the children appeared to have a lovely time.

During the afternoon, a lettering artist called Chrissie visited and ran a workshop with the children to create individual, bound booklets of illuminated letters - this was inspired by the items that had been collected in the morning.

The children were fabulous ambassadors and made really mature and thoughtful contributions throughout the day.
