Year 1 and Year 2 classes took a step back in time and enjoyed a fantastic day out as their “wow” moment to launch their new topic “Bright Lights, Big City” at the East Anglian Transport Museum in Carlton Colville. The weather was kind to us and we had a great day finding out lots of information about old vintage cars, trams, trains, lorries and we will be exploring these throughout this topic.
The morning started with
guided visits on the moving vehicles and the children enjoyed climbing up the
steep stairs on the trams, the trolley bus and settling into the carriages on
the trains – see the photos in the gallery. There was great excitement
when our tickets were punched by the conductor for each ride. After
the rides, (and a well-earned lunch break!), we were able to look and visit a
variety of vehicles from the last 100 years. It was a fascinating insight
into how transport has evolved over the last century. The guides
gave us some really interesting and valuable information about the trams,
bubble trams and trolley buses.
Thank you to all the helpers who kindly volunteered to help on the day and made this trip possible. Check out the gallery for lots of other super photos from our enjoyable day out.
