Year 6 have been incredibly busy over the past few weeks.
After completing their SATs examinations with real determination and perseverance, the children have been working hard in other areas of the curriculum. As writers, they constructed balanced arguments about the Famous 'Air up' bottles and weighed up the pros and cons, drawing their own conclusions after weighing up the evidence. They've also looked at wiring formula complaint letters, choosing to complain about several contentious issues! With all their writing, they've selected a variety of sentence types and worked on their editing skills.
At
the end of last week, Miss. Whipps set the children to challenge themselves
when revisiting the 4 operations and they generated quite substantial
calculations!! They independently generated the numbers. Huge answers were created, some in the quintillions
which were too big to check on a standard calculator. They showed true
determination and desire to apply their prior learning in different
contexts.
As
scientists before half term, the children looked at evolution and
classification and investigated issues such as selective breeding, survival of
the fittest, etc. Here are some examples of their fabulous work!
