Our girls school team took part in the North Suffolk tournament yesterday at Stradbroke Cricket Club. There were 8 teams split into 2 groups. After a nervous start against Eye (losing by 7 runs) the Framlingham girls then played very well to beat Halesworth Middle in a low scoring game by 6 runs.
The runs really flowed in our 3rd match with Fram beating Fressingfield by 38 runs.
This meant that Fram won their group and Halesworth finished second.
In the semi final Fram played a talented Wilby team and managed to win by 2 runs with Molly Waddell keeping calm in the last over.
Fram were now in the Final (the first time our girls team has ever got that far) and were up against Halesworth who also won their semi final.
Fram bowled first and restricted Halesworth to a relatively modest score. Fram started very well with Molly Howard and Athena putting on a good opening partnership. Molly Waddell and Georgie Warren also batted well to get Fram very close to the Halesworth total. However, with just 2 overs to go Fram suffered a batting collapse to finish as runners up.
Georgie receiving certificates from the Suffolk girls cricket manager. The girls can be very proud of their performance. They have practiced hard all term and played in the house matches with the boys. Hopefully they have enjoyed the experience and will want to play more cricket in the future.
