SNAPE CONCERT SUCCESS
What a truly remarkable experience the ‘School’s Celebration of Music’ at Snape Maltings was for our children yesterday! From the moment we arrived at the Maltings and were shown to our dressing room the musical journey began. Our children had been rehearsing their selection of songs and orchestral pieces for some time at school. Mrs Armstrong, Mrs Mawson and Miss Ashberry had prepared the children thoroughly and all that was left to do was to perform it on the Maltings stage. The technical rehearsal went very well and there followed further rehearsals to prepare for the Grand Finale with children from other schools – Primary, Middle and High. By 6.00pm all was ready for the performance in front of a packed audience.
The stage was transformed into a magical array of brightly coloured birds as our children entered and the music began. I have never been more proud of our children as they sang and played a selection of bird songs and music, beginning and ending with Benjamin Britten’s ‘The Cuckoo’ which was both beautiful and haunting. Their performance was quite simply stunning.
It is certainly an experience I will never forget, and from the faces of the children I believe they won’t either. We are so grateful to Mrs Armstrong, Mrs Mawson and Miss Ashberry for their time and dedication and to all the children who performed so beautifully giving us all an evening to remember.
