BattleKids

To help us learn coordinates in maths, Mr Snowden and Miss Dineen played a modified version of the game Battleships using the class as 'ships'. A 6x6 grid was drawn on both playgrounds and half the class assembled on each in order to line up as ships. The children then took turns to select coordinates to attempt to 'hit' and 'sink' their opponents boats. We used a paper grid help us plot our successful guesses and near misses to help us plan out our next attempt. We used a colour code to see where we had guessed before giving our next coordinates. Miss Dineen and Mr Snowden then used walkie-talkies to communicate our coordinates across the playgrounds.

"I liked how creative it was using the playgrounds." Amelia

"It was really fun, I really enjoyed it." Isabella

"I liked how we worked together as a team." Callum

"It was a really nice way to spend the morning." Zara
