VW have been doing some work on trying to understand the election process. They studied the party manifestos and were given the choice of which party they wanted to be a part of. Then, they elected their party leader and other representatives. After presenting some of the main points on the manifestos which they felt were most pertinent, they had the opportunity to vote and place their ballot paper in the ballot pox. We talked about how everyone who can vote really should vote and we considered the people who haven't always been able to do so throughout history, e.g. the Suffragettes.
The votes were meticulously counted and the
Green Party secured a narrow margin. Yesterday, we remembered our
Parliament trip earlier in the year and how party needs to win at least 50
percent of the seats – 326 – to secure a majority in the House of Commons and
be asked to form a government by the monarch, King Charles III. We'll be
keeping our eyes on the polls to see how the real election turns out...
