Year 5 have made a brilliant start on their new violin piece, Mystic Mountain, which was specially composed for them by their teacher. To spark their imaginations, the children first listened to a Chinese piece of music and talked about sounds they could hear. They were excited to discover a new technique called col legno, where they tap the strings with the wooden part of the bow to create a light, magical effect. Over the term, the children will learn to perfect this new technique and master their new piece.
