Harvest Festival at St Michael's Church

Today our children celebrated the Harvest at St Michael's Church in Framlingham.

It was great to see so many parents join us in Church and there was a wonderful feel to our service.  The Church looked lovely and we are grateful to be able to use it for our Worship and for Revd Sanders to give the blessing.
We would like to thank all the families for their generosity with food items for the Waveney Food Bank. We also raised £93 from the collection which we will pass on to Water Aid.  These charities help local communities both at home & abroad.

Thank you to Mr Owen for these super photos of the children at Church.

Harvest with Nursery & Reception

Our youngest children held their own Harvest Service in school this morning, with the children adding their food offering to the harvest collection. They listened to stories and talked about sharing and sang Harvest songs.

Year 5 trip to Adastral Park

Classes SC and JT went to Adastral park for a crumble robot taster workshop. They learnt how to program the crumble robot to turn lights on and off, change the colours of the lights and get the robot to move following a black line. Throughout the day, they used their skills in problem solving and perseverance.

Our Children on BBC Look East News

We have created a Vimeo of the report - the quality is not brilliant as it was filmed off the TV!

VWh PASB House Hockey 2019

On Monday 7th October 2019, forty-two pupils from Year 6 participated in a house hockey tournament. The children were, competitive, excited and enthusiastic! Well done to the four Year 5 pupils who refereed the games. An excellent effort from all!

Story Time in Reception

Both of our Reception classes held a story time session at the end of the day today.
The event gives parents the opportunity to access our wonderful library of story books to read with their children.
Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy spending this time together.
We will run another session in November and one in December.

Hitcham's Head Chef Week 2

It was the turn for some of our Year 5 children to cook this week. Again we were astounded by the complexity of the dishes being cooked for us by 9 year olds!
We were treated to Chicken enchiladas, Lasagne, and Crab and Fennel pasta. We were so lucky to have Mrs Lawley, our DT governor and Chris Sampson from Hitcham's Trust to be our judges, and it was lovely to see so many staff pop by to support the children too. Thank you all!
Hitcham's Trust gift the school some money each year which enables us to teach all of the children in Key Stage 2 to cook a range of dishes. It was lovely to show the positive impact this spending has through the children themselves demonstrating their confidence and skills. Wow!

Class LH investigate materials in and around school!

Class LH have been investigating the properties of materials in and around the school.

Last week, we used the cameras to take photos in the playground of various materials and then discussed why they were made of each particular material.  We talked about the wooden shed, the metal on the slide and the trim trail, the plastic storage containers, the glass windows, the brick walls, rubber matting under the play equipment and even our leather shoes!

This week we investigated which materials would make a good umbrella.  We used kitchen roll, fabric, plastic bags, J-cloth and cardboard to find out which was waterproof.  We all made a prediction and learnt that it didn't matter if this was wrong!  We then worked with our partners to find out which ones were waterproof. It was a fair test because we used the same amount of water on the same size of material.  If the water didn't come through,  then it was waterproof.  A lot of us thought that the cardboard was waterproof but then we realised after a short wait that actually it wasn't.

We all decided that plastic would made a good umbrella and were able to explain why the plastic was a suitable material. Some of us made correct predictions but those of us that didn't understood that it didn't matter if these were wrong!

FOREST SCHOOL

WEEK4 - CLASS CMRH

This week the children learnt how to use a palm drill to make a conker necklace and enjoyed creating leaf animals. They also continued making perfumes, adding herbs and rose petals to their creations. Lots of free play was also enjoyed especially having fun in the rain.
