Ukraine Donations

Thank you so much to all the families who generously donated items yesterday to the collection for transport to the Ukraine borders for the refugees.

Sam Ransome (one of our school parents) has been busy over the last couple of weeks doing local collections, sorting and then taking them to the centres sending out the articulated lorries to Europe. Well done & thank you to Sam for doing such an excellent job and enabling us to contribute aid to this awful humanitarian crisis, thanks too, to Mrs Sarah Morgan, one of our TAs for her help too.

This was the van filling up at the end of school...

After sorting & ready for transport...

Our wonderful Firebirds at “Celebration 2022”

We are so hugely proud of our choir – The Firebirds who performed so beautifully last night at the world famous concert hall at Snape Maltings.

They sang with passion, conviction and joy, spreading an uplifting message of hope and love. They also reminded us of the healing effect music and singing can have on us all.

Our choir - The Firebirds is a non-auditioning choir of children ranging from 7 -11 year olds who just love to come together once a week to sing.

A huge thank you to Megan Peel for directing our pupils and to The Phoenix Singers for enabling this choir.

Again, we are immensely proud of the musicality and commitment (and behaviour!) of these pupils – they truly did us proud!

Thank you Firebirds!

Mrs Mawson

Heart Dissection

On Wednesday, classes VWh and VWe took part in a lamb heart dissection.

After a safety talk and wearing the appropriate PPE, Miss. Whipps demonstrated before letting the children crack on with it themselves in pairs.

The children could identify the visceral fat on the external surface of the heart, which lead to a discussion about excess fat and the potential effect on the arteries. We identified the major structures like the aorta,  atria, ventricles, bicuspid and tricuspid valves and other internal structures.

The children could really see how thick the left hand walls were compared to the right as the left hand side pumps oxygenated blood. The key difference between left and right side of heart is that the type of blood circulates: oxygenated blood flows via left side of heart (systemic circulation) whilst deoxygenated blood flows via the right side (pulmonary circulation). Therefore, the right side of the heart is physically smaller because it pumps blood only to the lungs.

It was great for the classes to get hands- on experience!

Installation of the Time Capsule

Smart Offices arrived on site this morning and have made great steps in installing the base for the pod on the back playground.

Part of todays work involved placing the Time Capsule in the floor of the framework.  The Class Ambassadors came out to see it and Mrs Picton (with the help of a rather loud drill) screwed in the first fixing to seal the lid.

We don't know when this Time Capsule will be opened, or by who, it's strange to think that it may be 50 years in the future before these items are looked at again!

Spring!

The daffodils are in full bloom along our College Road railings - Spring is here, at last!

Big Draw collaborative town project

During the autumn term the children were asked to design a hand for a collaborative town project in conjunction with ‘The Big Draw’ which was being constructed at Mills Meadow.

The project involved hand designs from within the community to signify everyone coming together after the difficult months experienced during Covid.

It was an opportunity to start a conversation about our relationships with wellbeing following lockdown restrictions.

The residents at Mills Meadow are really enjoying the display and are very grateful to all of the children that contributed. Thank you to all the children who took part in this project.  This is the completed design.

Time Capsule is filled!

Following a wonderful whole school assembly today, where the children enjoyed their first time all singing together, the Class Ambassadors placed all the items in the time capsule (provided by Smart Garden Offices) that will be buried in the floor of the Music Pod next week.

World Book Day 2022

So many amazing & clever costume ideas today - the children and staff really got in the spirit of the event.

During the day the children mixed classes for the older ones to read with the younger classes - it was lovely to watch the engagement of the children.

Donations for today will go to Book Aid international - thank you to everyone who brought in money.

The website gallery has numerous photos from the classes - so please take a look.

Rotary Dictionaries

Our Year 6 children were delighted today to be presented with a personalised Dictionary, which have been kindly donated and inscribed by the local Framlingham and District Rotary.

We are very grateful to them for this generous donation to our pupils - a big Thank you from the year 6 children!

Nursery Admissions 2022/23

 Nursery Admissions 2022/23

Our Nursery can take children from the beginning of the term following their third birthday.   Children may have up to five terms of free part-time early learning with us before they join the Reception class.  The Nursery aims to create an environment where children can have a variety of experiences through play.  This means we can develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them and give them a strong foundation upon which we can start to build the curriculum.

Nursery Application forms can be downloaded here for 2022/23 or pop into the office to collect a printed form.

Applications for a September 2022 start should be returned to the school office by Friday 1 April for us to allocate places in accordance with our Nursery Admissions Policy.

Admission forms for a start date later in this school year should be returned to the school office by the following deadlines:  For January 2022 by start of September 2022;   For April 2022 by start of January 2023.

In addition, we have a chargeable lunch club that runs until 1.30pm. Nursery children may have a school dinner or bring a packed lunch.  During this period and for their playtime in or outside, the children remain fully supervised.  We do not offer 30 hours of funded childcare, but you may use extended hours to cover the additional cost of the lunch club (up to 8 hours 20 mins) if you are eligible.

For enquiries regarding Nursery admissions, please email us @ Nursery Enquiries or visit our website.
