As Mathematicians, we have been finding out and using a range of measures. We used tape measures to measure different parts of our bodies; we have been measuring different capacities and exploring different shapes and sizes of containers. As scientists, we have been measuring the wind speed using the Beaufort scale and working out the different types of clouds too. It was brilliant using the Beaufort scale last week with all the blustery wind and gusts we had.
As designers, we have been investigating, designing and
making vehicles. Everybody used their
plans accurately and gave excellent evaluations about what went well or what they would change next time they made their vehicle. We measured the length of the axis that was
needed and used Dowling rod to create these which we cut using hacksaws. We had
a range of vehicles including a bus, fire engines, a tow truck, (which Gregory managed to tow another vehicle), an helicopter (which proved
challenging for the single wheel at the front, (Hugo persevered and we found
a solution!) and a range of cars and tractors.
