Whole School Letter (10)

PLEASE NOTE: SCHOOL OPENS AT 8.30am
We now have security locks on all external doors around the school, and these will be on automatic lock until 8.30am. Please do not leave children at school before this time as they will be unable to enter the building. Before 8.30am is valuable preparation time for teachers in class and the playground is not supervised until 8.30am. On Friday ‘Funky Pop’ children should use the rear entrance and go straight to the hall with their bags please.

CANOPY INSTALLATION
Due to this building work commencing again, the back entrance by the hall cannot be used at present.

REMINDER BAG2SCHOOL - TOMORROW - Tuesday 2 November by 9 am
Please return your filled charity bags with unwanted clothes, bed linen, soft toys, bags, belts and shoes to the FRONT PLAYGROUND OUTDOOR CLASSROOM tomorrow by 9 am, (change to location due to building work near back playground), thank you.

REMINDER CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL - Friday 5 November
Please return the filled shoe boxes for Samaritans Purse by Friday 5 November. Thank you.

ADMISSIONS POLICY 2011/12 CONSULTATION
We have placed a draft version of this policy on the school website as a ‘discussion’ document. We welcome any parent comments; the consultation period is 1 November to 1 March 2011, however ideally we would like them before the end of this term. Thank you.

ALDEBURGH POETRY FESTIVAL Friday 5 - Saturday 6 November
On the Friday from 6-7pm at the Jubilee Hall Mandy Coe will be reading her fun, interactive poems for poetry fans of all ages, this is followed on the Saturday at 5.45pm-7pm by a one-man show from Inua Ellams, reading his magical story of identical twins separated in infancy. BASSISTRY ARTS – Thursday 18 November
Bassistry Arts will be visiting school to hold music workshops with the KS2 children on 18 November. These have always been a great success and are very much enjoyed by the children. Thank you to the Friends who are covering the cost of this event. http://www.bassistry.com/mew-articles.php.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENING – Friday 19 November
The Friends are hoping this adult shopping evening will be a great success, so far they have around 25 stall holders booked selling Christmas items and gifts including jewellery, clothes, bags, toys, stocking fillers, Christmas food, cards, and gift wrap. They hope it will be a great social event where there will be a licensed bar, with a glass of wine and mince pie included in the £2 entrance fee. Please do encourage friends and relatives to come along with you.

REMEMBRANCE POPPIES
Poppies will be on sale in the school this week. They will be brought to the classes each day when the children will have an opportunity to purchase a poppy if they wish to bring in a donation.

FRIENDS CAKE STALL SUCCESS
A huge thank you to class JC and LC for the fantastic cake contributions at the end of last term; a whopping £242 was raised – the highest so far! Thank you to everyone who baked or bought.
