A Starry "Night" in Reception Classes

What a topsy turvy day! Anyone who spotted classes CH & KM coming to school this morning, may have noticed they came to school in their pyjamas! So did their teachers! As inspiration for our new topic - Starry Night, we decided to have a pyjama party in Reception. Teddies were allowed to come as super special guests for the day too. The teddies were very well behaved...some of them enjoyed playing games with the children and others had beds made especially for them. As designers and mathematicians, children measured their teddies and thought about the most appropriate and comfortable design for their special friend. Some of the very sophisticated models had inbuilt TVs.

Some "teddies" enjoyed playing games such as The Memory Game.
They were very good at taking it in turns.

During our day we also did Cosmic Bedtime Yoga, listened to bedtime stories from Jackanory with
Mr Tom Hardy, enjoyed making observations about a time-lapse video of the night sky and had a delicious cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. What a treat!

It is exciting to note the children know a lot about the night sky but want to learn a lot more! They shared a lot of knowledge with us and we can't wait to build on all that prior knowledge in the next few weeks.
We would like to share a well known lullaby with you....and will do so very soon, We are going to learn more lullabies and night time rhymes over the next few weeks too, so watch out for them, or perhaps listen out for them on the blog soon...
