As part of European Languages Day, Class KV set off on a tour of Europe. We visited 6 European countries:- Finland, Spain, Italy, Ukraine, Greece and France. As geographers, we found out about their culture, listened to the national anthems, looked at their flags and talked about the length of a typical school day and the age that they start. We examined a typical menu from their country and then sampled some of the typical foods from these countries. The beetroot borscht from Ukraine was not popular but the Greek yoghurt went down very well! Lots of children tried new foods which was great and there were lots of comments about the texture, the bitterness and the sweetness.
The children then voted for the country that they would like to live in!! The favourite country was Greece – due to the fact that they only went to school for either the morning (8.15am – 1.30pm) or the afternoon (2.00 – 7.00pm) and they loved the Greek yoghurt with blueberries!
