WHITSUN SERVICE – TUESDAY 2 JUNE
We will be having a Whitsun Service for Year 3 and 4 children on Tuesday 2 June in the afternoon. This service is for the children only.

SAXTEAD FETE – TUESDAY 2 JUNE
Just to inform parents that the Saxtead Fete takes place on Tuesday 2 June from 6pm just off Saxtead Green.

THE TAKE-AWAY THEATRE COMPANY – ‘THE VELVETEEN RABBIT’ – FRIDAY 5 JUNE
Using a combination of music, drama and song a troop of professional actors will bring this classic story to life. The production costs £299, but the school is paying for this. All children (including Nursery) will be watching the production on the morning of Friday 5 June.

MUSIC TUITION FOR VIOLIN, VIOLA, ‘CELLO AND DOUBLE BASS
The Suffolk County Music Service is holding an open meeting on Saturday 13 June at 11am at Thomas Mills High School for those interested in having tuition on the violin, viola, ‘cello or double bass. Tuition classes run at the school on Saturday mornings. Any child in Year 2 and above is invited to attend this meeting with a parent. For more details please see the leaflet on the parent notice board, or ask for a photocopy at the office.

VEGETARIAN LUNCHES
The kitchen team find that some days they run out of vegetarian lunches before all the vegetarian children have been through. To try to ensure this doesn’t happen please can you let us know if your child will only eat Vegetarian meals, so that they can be catered for. Please return the slip overleaf if your child is a Vegetarian (by Friday 5 June). Non-vegetarians are, of course, able to choose the vegetarian option if they wish. Thank you.

POLITE REMINDER
Please can we remind parents to write their child’s name and class on the back of ANY cheques sent into the school. Thank you.

THE ACTIVITY CHALLENGE
Suffolk County Council and NHS Suffolk have set up a new initiative called ‘The Activity Challenge’ as part of the Healthy Ambitions Suffolk Challenge. They are challenging Suffolk children to become the healthiest in the UK by 2012. Parents can register their children online for this. The children will then be sent cards on which they can record their daily activities (aiming for 1 hour of activity a day) they will also be sent a free gift which they can choose when registering. They will have to enter their name, date of birth, home address and home email address to register and receive these items.

LATE ARRIVALS
May we remind parents that if your child arrives in school after 8.50am, parents must come to the office to sign their child in. Thank you.

SCHOOL MONEY ENVELOPES
We now have these back in stock, for use in paying for dinner money, school trips etc. Price £1 for 25.

SUFFOLK FAMILIES INFORMATION SERVICE
For free impartial advice about childcare, early education and a range of services for you and your family from SCC- call 0845 60 800 33. There is a leaflet on the parent notice board and we can make photocopies in the office if any parent wishes to have one.

AFTER SCHOOL SWIMMING
The Friends after school swimming will start on Monday 22 June for the last 4 weeks of term. There may be some dates where there will be no swimming as there are not enough helpers, but you will receive more details nearer the time.

REMINDER ABOUT SUN PROTECTION
Now that we hope the warmer weather will be upon us, please can we remind parents to apply sun screen protection to their child before they come to school. During this summer term the children may have PE lessons outside and of course swimming lessons. It is also important that they wear a sun hat at break and lunchtimes. Thank you.
