VW visited the school field with trundle
sticks to investigate the movement of the Earth and other planets, relative to
the Sun in the solar system. We looked at the relative distances of planets from
the Sun and discussed the word 'scale' .
They worked with a
scale of 1cm ≡ 1000km. The children had to work together and make sure that the Sun was the point from
where all measurements were taken.
