Castle on the Hill ~ SRH version

Year 5 have been writing their own words to the recent Ed Sheeran song about growing up in Framlingham...

When I was four years old I went to school
I was learning more and more every day
The taste of the sweet potatoes as I ate them
It was fun back then, take me back to when

I found my brain and made it work
Made friends and lost them through the years
And I’ve not seen the playing fields in so long, I know I’ve grown
and I can’t wait to go home

I’m on my way
With lots of homework down those country lanes
Singing to times tables
And I miss the way you taught ABC,
As we watched the sunset over the castle on the hill

Eleven years old and working hard on our SATS
Running through the playground and playing it with my friends
Had my first test on a Friday morn but I don’t think I did it well
I worked harder then, take me back to when

We found our homework hard, took lots of time
We’d buy cheap sweets then eat them fast
Me and my friends haven’t had them in so long, oh how we’ve grown
But I can’t wait to go home

I’m on my way
Running around the school field on sports day
Listening to Mr BK
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it’s real
We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill

One friend went to Thomas Mills
One friend owns a pet shop
One’s got 2 brothers and lives at home
One’s a famous artist
One’s already a policeman
One’s just become an author
But they are my friends and I can’t wait to see them

I’m on my way,
I still remember those old school days
When we did not know the answers
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it’s real
We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill

Over the castle on the hill
