Merci everybody for really
engaging with our special learning day, celebrating all things French and learning all about the 2024 Paris Olmpics and Para Olympics too.
Everybody looked great in their blue, white and red and colours of the olympic rings. Thank you to parents and carers for facilitating this.We really enjoyed a fun and engaging whole school French/ olympic themed assembly, led by Mme Capjon and Mon. Wright, who are French teachers at Thomas Mills High School. The film they shared about the River Seine ahead of the olympics was really thought provoking and hopefully the French authorities will ensure that the river is clean enough for competitors to swim in for the games ! Several staff members said that they were not keen to swim in the River Seine (!). Everybody was really impressed with our pupils' French accents and how well they listened to all the interesting information in the assembly. Mme Capjon read a special olympic prayer in both French and English and during worship, we reflected on our school's values and how well they link with the olympic values.
There was a range of activities going on around the school, including learning about the geography of France, singing, art work. cooking French style savoury flapjacks, counting, telling the time, using the French dictionaries, playing French games, learning about the olympics and more.
We are very grateful to Mrs Aldred and her catering team who planned a delicious French style lunch and the children collected their meals from a French themed, decorated counter. The children all said how much they enjoyed their meal.
Merci.
