Science in VW

Last week in Class VW, the children conducted an investigation into the effects of air resistance.

They made parachutes and considered the variable they would need to change (independent variables), the variable being measured (dependent variable) and what they needed to keep the same (controlled variables).

We looked at the positive effects of air resistance and how the forces weren't entirely balanced:  we wanted our Lego figures to have a 'gentle' descent to the ground.  The variable we changed was the material of our parachutes.

The experiment was repeated 3 times for the purpose of fair testing.

Over the next few days, we will analyse the results of the investigation, evaluating the effectiveness of our method and areas for improvement.
