Jubilee Runathon in aid of EACH

First thing on Wednesday morning, there was a real buzz of excitement around the school as children were bringing in their 1p, 2p and 5p donations for EACH.

All sorts of vessels were being used to collect the coins in class from sweet jars, chocolate tins, measuring jugs, jam jars and some classes even resorted to cardboard boxes as they had so much!!

The total will be announced after half-term, as we have been quite over-whelmed by how many coins have been brought in and so we are still counting!!

Mr Jewell and Miss Blowers led the whole school in a warm up which everyone –including staff – joined in with to get ready for the Runathon.

The baton bearer for each class was the child who shared (or had the nearest) birthday to the Queen – 21st April.

We started with the youngest children and the Year 6 team captains led them around the field.  While they were running, the year 1 children lined up ready to take the baton and run their lap.  While they were running, year 2 lined up and took over the baton.  This continued until every year group had run and completed their lap around the field. Every child was smiling and laughing as they ran and were making every step count towards this special event.
