Science Fair

Last Thursday, we hosted our very first science fair where every child was encouraged to get involved and showcase experiments and demonstrate their scientific knowledge. All the children, from nursery to Year 6 were asked to research, design, investigate and create a science project at home that would reflect their interests and enthusiasm for science. The project could be presented in any way that they felt was most appropriate and we were inundated with the most amazing, creative and hugely inspiring entries.

Each class visited the fair throughout the day where they were able to view and interact with all the amazing projects on display and learn about all the incredible science that had been going on during the week. To mention just a few, we had an interactive set of lungs, robotic hands, balloon car racers, catapults and cannons, a test tube kaleidoscope, bouncy eggs, a whirlpool in a bottle, a potato powered house, the most incredible lighted solar system, a DNA quiz that was hugely popular by all year groups and an interactive science park. The fair was hosted by some incredible Year 6 Science ambassadors who were not only there to demonstrate some of these incredible projects but also to talk to the visiting classes about the science behind them too, and they did a fantastic job!

The science fair was a real celebration of science, all the children (and the teachers too) thoroughly enjoyed being able to explore all the wonderful projects on display and it was an incredibly inspiring event for all the pupils. Thank you to all the pupils and families who got involved with the science week competitions and for making our first SRH Science Fair such a huge success!
