Greensleeves - Magnificent Monarchs videos

On Monday, KS2 children took part in a 'Wow' day to introduce our new topic for the term, 'Magnificent Monarchs'. On the day, the children rotated round a carousel of activities including collage, singing, art and dancing to 'Greensleeves'. With the Greensleeves workshop, the children gained a bit more of an understanding about the origins of the tune, learning that some historians theorised that it could have been written by Henry VIII for his second wife, Ann Boleyn, although others disagree. We listened to the tune on the lute, making observations about the repetitive nature, beat and melody. Then, the children paired up and started learning some simple moves, thinking about timing, posture and working together. The children got into small groups and incorporated some of their own moves and created their own themed routines.
